Ellen Page is at it again. The star of Juno and current It girl is set to headline Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut Whip It. The film chronicles the adventures of Bliss Cavendar, a teenage misfit stuck in a dead-end town outside Austin, Tex., who decides to take up the time-honored tradition of Roller Derby. Based on the book Derby Girl by novelist and screenwriter Shauna Cross, Whip It will be produced by Barry Mendel and Barrymore’s Flower Films for Mandate Pictures. It will be shooting this summer in Austin.

Drew Barrymore directing? Not so sure about that, but with Ellen Page in the list any film becomes a must see
The funny part here is she sort of looks like a derby girl.
This is gonna rock! Coming from a derby gal, good luck to E. Page learning the derby ropes! I bet you won’t want to stop after the film is over!!!
Another “quirky” teen comedy? This girl’s agent should get a slap. Ellen Page is on the cusp of becoming a very significant actress. She should be branching out, not doing Juno over and over. Wasn’t there a movie with her and her co-star from Juno (her best friend in the film, who is apparently her best friend in life) where they were lovers in New York or something?
I’m very disappointed she’s apparently playing it safe. Bor-ring!

thats just one of you. You’re boring and…a guy.
AWESOME!!! I cannot wait. Ellen Page is brillant.
I’m happy to see derby getting some big press! Go see the movie and then buy season tickets in your city to some SERIOUS enterainment and a kick-ass sport.
