Pot smokers have something to celebrate this Valentine’s Day. Sony Pictures has finally put up the red-band (R-rated) trailer of Judd Apatow’s next film, the stoner comedy Pineapple Express, starring Seth Rogen. (You can view it at RidetheExpress.com.) An unfinished version of the trailer was yanked off YouTube last week because of copyright infringement. (An inside source whispered that Apatow had posted the trailer himself. His rep declined to comment.) The more serious worry for Sony, though, was that the studio would be accused of endorsing marijuana use to minors if it didn’t get the trailer taken down. Now, the R-rated trailer is shielded on an "age-gate" site where you have to post your real birthday — checked against public records — to see it. Good news for adult fans of Apatow’s Knocked Up, but a bummer for all those teens who loved Superbad.

Looks like another comic gem from Apatow. Looks like a great cast of supporting players (I think I saw Ed Begley Jr, Nora Dunn, Rosie Perez and Gary Cole). Seth Rogen is always hilarious but, judging from the trailer, I have a feeling that James Franco is going to steal the movie out from under everyone’s feet.
So the website won’t let me watch the trailer because I’m from Canada and don’t have a Zip Code but I’m 26. What a joke!
Yeah, I’m 18, in college, and it won’t let me see the site. With either my hometown or college zipcode!
just use george bush’s bday. July 6, 1946, 20500
Totally agree, this is so unfair to Canadians! But thanks for the George Bush info, atleast he was useful for one thing! Not a pothead, but will be lining up when the movie opens!
Just saw the trailer. Now the anti-Christ knows where I live.
Um, just so everyone knows – Apatow is a producer on the film, but he didn’t write it OR direct it. I know he’s indelibly associated with pretty much anything Seth Rogen does, but let’s try to acknowledge that there are other people involved here. That said, the trailer was great and I’m def excited.
Nice to see James Franco doing comedy again. I’ve got high hopes for this one.
Wow, that sucks for Canadians. Rogen is one of your own, right? This movie is still going to be pretty awesome.
LOL! the foot in the windshield! Apatow’s gang needs to make all comedies from now on
that trailer was hilarious. Friggin hysterical. on august 8 I’m there
Oh man that looks awesome. I don’t smoke, but I’m still totally there on August 8!
I don’t think I have laughed so hard!!! Or at least it has been a while. F-ing genius!!!
THANKS DUBS for the George Bush info – I wonder if Sony will think he logged in and watched this 100 times? Ah well, if America put a fraction of the money and effort it spends “protecting the children” from things like R-Rated movies and pot, into, oh, I dunno, FINDING OSAMA BIN LADEN, the world might be a better place. Between this and “Milk”, loving James Franco this year. <3
