Julianne Moore wants to direct

Working with top directors Neil Jordan, Stephen Daldry, Todd Haynes, and Paul Thomas Anderson has helped Julianne Moore score her four career Oscar nominations. And her collaboration with Fernando Meirelles, Blindness (out tomorrow), features another characteristically strong performance from the actress. In Part 3 of my Oscar Watch interview with Moore, she talks about what career she would have pursued if she hadn’t made it as an actress, and her surprising aspirations to try directing herself.

Angelina Jolie: Here's a clip from 'Changeling'

Though she’s the proud owner of an Academy Award, Angelina Jolie actually hasn’t been nominated since winning Best Supporting Actress for Girl, Interrupted in 2000. But her forceful performance in this month’s Clint Eastwood drama Changeling could change that. It’s been over four months since I saw the film in Cannes, but watching this exclusive clip given to EW.com by the folks at Universal reminds me of what a fine job she does. This is one of the best scenes in the film, and Jolie is helped along by one of our best character actors, Tony winner Denis O’Hare (he was genius in Michael Clayton), as a menacing doctor at a mental ward where she’s been wrongly placed. Take a look and let me know if you think this is Angelina’s Oscar scene.
