Not realy seeing why there is a need to compare Twilight to HP. They really have nothing in common. I have to say also that I was not expecting critics to go crazy over this movie, they didn’t the books. I also was not expecting much on the special effects end. Good lord they didn’t have much a budget to work with to begin with. By the way, in my thirties, and looking forward to seeing this movie!
Um…is this supposed to be news? Who actually thought that critics would rave about this film?
HAHA!!!! THE BEST NEWS I’VE HEARD SINCE OBAMA WAS THE PRESIDENT-ELECT! LET THE TWILIGHT BASHING BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I. Don’t. Care.
I’m 31 and I LOVE the books, I’m sure that the movie will be good, the critics WANT to hate it because it’s all anyone talks about!
Whenever a movie has this much hype surrounding it the critics will always want to rip it apart. As long as it is faithful to the books the fans will love it. I don’t know where these people get the idea that only tween girls like this book. I’m 30 and I enjoyed it for what it was. A guy at my job told me that every 3rd woman he knows is reading it. So, I think these Hollywood journalists got caught off guard by this huge swell of publicity and they’re majorly out of the loop on this whole phenom. Just like the big studios in town who are probably kicking themselves for letting a little startup like Summit get the rights to this cash cow!
So were the critics expecting oscar winning performances from this movie? Seiously, it’s a movie about teenage love and vampires. I am still excited to see the movie, regardless of what the critics say.
i absolutely don’t care what these critics say! im paying to watch a film that i want to see, i don’t need someone telling me if its bad or not. btw i can’t help but want to kick some people in the groin whenever they say that the special effects were cheesy, blame Summit Entertainment for such a low budget!!
Critics are usually critical of everything and with that said I am still paying my $ to go see it! They hated Star Wars too;)
Jaime:
Loved your comment. I’m going to a 6:30 screening (in Austin, TX) with the director in attendance.
I hope I get a chance to tell her that reviews are about as important to this film as garlic was to the storyline. Absolutely nothing!
I didn’t expect great reviews from the critics anyway. It’s not that kind of movie. It’s for the fans. The reviews for the actors seem mostly positive. I doubt they were expecting great reviews either.
Almost everybody and there mothers is going to see this movies, including me, so I don’t see the problem.
I am a regular reader of Roger Ebert and he is pretty fair. If a movie is compelling at all or at least does well what it tries to do, he will not hesitate to give it three or four stars. The fact that he gave it two stars tells me that this one will probably be pretty underwhelming to the average viewer.
whatever man stop hati’n on the book and the movie!
Okay I have said this before and I’ll say it again: seriously did half the Twilight budget go to EW for pimp-out? is it coincidince that the only positive review is from EW after months of having “Twilight Central”? That is just silly and goes to show that throwing a bit of money around can earn you the rave reviews you want from the sites more inclined to whore themselves out.
Dang… I agree about Ebert. He is fair and also i usually end up agreeing with him. That he was lackluster about it is sad… am still going to see it though. I have a feeling due to the subject matter & taget audience, this may be more of a devisive movie amongst critic and fan than usual. Oh well. To all the kids on Team Edward, etc: Have fun watching this! I know negative reviews won’t change a thing for you.
