I’m not the least bit surprised that Twilight made as much money as it did. It was a great movie! I waited ages for it to release, and when I saw the midnight showing, I wasn’t at all disappointed! I’m watching it tomorrow night for the second time! Anywho, with all this money that Summit made, New Moon is going to be a million times better. I really can’t wait for the movie to release!!! =]

Andrew… i totally agree with you… this movie was horrible… BUT! if you want a great laugh [and i mean great laugh… GO see it… i could not stop laughing…

Why would you read all the books if you thought the first was just “okay”. And why, pray tell, would you go see the movie in it’s opening weekend? Cause you know you loved it, that’s why.

The genre of vampire fiction has officially jumped the shark. The best vampire stories were written by Fred Saberhagen, who humanized Dracula and created a rich world in contemporary Chicago with his stories, and Chelsae Quinn Yarbro, whose Sait Germaine stories covered the full expanse of history from the Roman Empire to almost contemporary. Anne Rice popularized them with her shallow sex-obsessed knock-offs, but the current descent into category romance shows that the subject has run its course and will now descend into the utter depths of literary swill.

I personally loved the movie (as I am in love with the whole series). I like the fact that they made the movie different from the book but still kept the basic integrity (which most book-based movies don’t do). The movie depicted the characters perfectly and was quite funny in many scenes. To Andrew: You are right Harry Potter shouldn’t be compared to Twilight because Twilight mainly emotion with a little action while Harry Potter is all action, but I have to say that you shouldn’t have gone to see Twilight if you think the book is only “ok” and you seem a little old to be even reading the books. To those wondering about the “legs” of the movie: I enjoyed it so much that I will see it a coulple of more times in theaters (something I am sure that many people will also do). I also know that many people had intentionally planned to not see on the opening weekend but look forward to seeing it in the future. Then there is the word-of-mouth that will send the skepticals to the box offices.

The movie itself was ok…. however they left out way to much. i understand you cant shove the whole book into 2 hours but they left out some main points. one being that alice was left out of the movie way to much. in the book she was basically bellas bestfriend. another thing was when they entered the hotel DIRECT SUNLIGHT helloooo arent they supposed to shimmer? on they way to the hotel bella was supposed to be hysterical and alice was supposed to be comforting her so why was alice in the front seat and bella calm? another thing, esme was the one who traded clothes with bella not rosalie. also rosalie and emmet and alice and jasper were not supposed to be affectionate in public. and bella was supposed to be the cook for charlie so why were they alwasy eating out? what happened to all of bellas nightmares? how come the cullens werent as graceful? and btw edward confessed being vamp on the way home from port angeles.if your gonna make a movie from a book, make it from THE BOOK.

I am in my 40s, saw it with a bunch of friends Friday night. Saw it with my daughter and her friends on Saturday night. I enjoyed it. It could have been fleshed out more, definitely, and would have made a great 2 1/2 to 3 hour movie, but they DID have a limited budget for this first movie. I expect the next one to be even better. I also expect this movie to continue doing well for a while. There is a LOT of repeat business–so many women and girls I’ve talked to have gone, and are continuing to go, multiple times. I expect to see it for the 3rd time with my college-age daughters, home for Thanksgiving, on Wednesday.

This movie was NOT like the book. Yes, it followed the plot, but I don’t remember seeing ANY of the book scenes that made the series an amazing read. I am not shocked that the studio made enough money to make New Moon because of all the pre-movie press. I am shocked, however, that anyone who actually read the book thought it merits any praise whatsoever. I will NOT be seeing New Moon.

I’m a Dad who has read the book and just saw it with my daughter. It was ok but left out so much from the book. I felt that if it wasn’t for the fact that most viewers have read the book, the movie “stand alone” would have barely made it. The effects were at best mediocre and at worst weak. As many below have pointed out many things that made the book were left out or misportrayed. I hope that the big budget that the sequels will now command will make them truly worthy of the books.

I was excited to watch the movie… what a BIG disappointment!! Whoever wrote the script for this movie must be fired intermediately and should never write again! And don’t get me started with the director. Choppy scenes, unimpressive special effects, and the background music that didn’t even match what was going on. It was amateur. Sorry but I just had to let that out. Overall the movie sucked. I’m a big fan of Stephenie Meyers and this movie did not convey any emotion that was even near what the Twilight the book had. Edward was not at all charming and did not “dazzle” anyone in the movie. Bella kept stuttering her words and sounded retarded.

I’m so happy that Twilight did so well this weekend and I’m really excited that they’re doing New Moon.

After a friend mentioned it, I read “Twilight” for the first time last weekend and instantly became a HUGE fan. I couldn’t wait to see the story come to life on the big screen & I thought it was a good adaptation of the book. By no means was the movie as AMAZING as the book, but I was surprised at how often I laughed out loud. I thought the casting was right on!! Not sure why there are so many haters…
