So they liked the Changeling didn’t they? Good for them! I hope Oscar is listening. Too bad Gran Torino didn’t also make the Best Picture list.

Where’s Sally Hawkins and Rosemarie De Witt? Oh yeah, they got snubbed.

Best Action movie, Indiana Jones? That just ruined the credibility of this list for me.

Indiana Jones gets a nomination for Best Action Movie? Wow, I don’t even know what to say…what the hell are people thinking these days?!?!?! Where’s the credibility now? And it’s up against The Dark Knight! Those two movies should NEVER EVER EVER be put in the same category together. What an insult! The only awards Indiana Jones should be winning are some Razzies.

Great to see RDJ getting love for TROPIC THUNDER. I’ll be very interested to see who ends up winning this first round of RDJ vs. Ledger vs. Slot fillers 1-3. If it’s Ledger, it’s a bad sign for anybody else in the category (because he’ll probably sweep all the way to the Oscars, where I’m convinced the statue already has his name engraved on it); if it’s RDJ, it’s a great sign for him but also a good sign for anybody else nominated to see that the final performance by a gone-too-soon actor isn’t automatically going to get all the gold.
That said, the BSA category needs serious overhauling. TWO noms for MILK? Come on, they’ll just cancel each other out (hence one of the reasons why I called the remaining three slots “Slot fillers 1-3″ above). Give the love to James Franco; he’s earned it this year, and tell Josh Brolin “Better luck next year”. Put Richard Dreyfuss as Dick Cheney in W in there instead and the rest of the list looks kind of like what I expected.
