Although I thought Taylor Lautner was cute as a younger Jacob in Twilight, this is the perfect time for STEVEN STRAIGHT to step in as a bigger, better Jacob!!! (He does age roughly 10 years in New Moon and Steven has the perfect look, muscles included. Yowza!)

    This ridiculous!
    Taylor Lautner is perfect.
    I liked the director too.
If they change this I will be soo upset.
    I bet Stephanie is.
    TEAM TAYLOR LAUTNER

New Moon is NOT a movie about a girl who falls in love with another guy when her boyfriend is away. Thank God that Hardwicke is off the project if thats what she thought.
New Moon is about a girl devastated that her love has left. She doesn’t know how he feels about her. She is dead inside. She gets a friend..a male friend who does have feelings for her. But they aren’t mutual at all.
Really, screw this movie if they are going to change the entire subtext so its a triangle. There is only a bit of a triangle in Eclipse. If the studio doesn’t get that then this E/Ber isn’t going to pay to watch them mutilate the story for the sake of a triangle.

Summit obviously has no respect for Twilight fans – apparently, we are little girls who just want something shiny to play with. They will rush some garbage out, with laughable special effects, and change the story because they think Twilight fans only want to look at Robert Pattinson for 2 hours (not that that’s a bad thing, but THAT’S NOT WHAT HAPPENED IN THE BOOK.) If they attempt to shove some Hollywood mess at us, they will be LUCKY to break even on New Moon. And don’t replace Taylor – he was PERFECT as Jacob. Get some real special effects, you cheap !*@&*&%.
(I just hope Stephenie Meyer is keeping an eye on things – I’m sure she will have no problem letting us know if Summit ruins New Moon.)

This confirms my suspicions. Now that the boys smell money they are going to gut everything. Why not just replace Edward with Vin Diesel? You’d all be wise to listen to the girls and women who have made this story a success in the first place. They are more complicated than your attitude seems to suggest.

Hmm I might have to agree with you AB. Steven Strait has the perfect “husky voice” that Meyer describes, but Taylor seems like he fits the sunnier Jacob image Bella has…

replacing Taylor launter cant happen. People love Taylor launter. hes kind of like how we pictured him in Twilight when we read it. it simply cant happen. if they replace him it wont be the same. it would make new moon even WORSE then twilight, since New moon has Jacob as one of the main charactors. people would notice, and people are stupid if they even think for a secound of getting rid of him.

  • nunnya

I’ll admit, I’ve seen Steven Srait online. He’s exactly what I pictured when I imagined Jacob.

Seriously, who cares about Lautner? Its a non-issue. If they would have to spend several million, of whatever budget they get, to make him appear big then why not put that towards location shots, better editing, and necessary effects. Why spend it so some HS kid can look big? It would make no sense. Its pandering to one actor who no longer fits the role. The economy is tight, Summit is a SMALL studio, the budget just is not going to be up to what some of you think it should be. So, decide what to spend the money on. Making Lautner look like Jacob.. or making the movie better as a whole. I know which one I’d chose.

WTF! 50MIL??? Cheap bastards! Do they want this movie to suck? UGH it pisses me off cause they have made more than ever to give them a bigger and better budget! They are so greedy! And EW please for the sake of me not puking my breakfast, don’t use Taylor Lautner pics to lure us to your stories. Just gross!

  • Michelle

DO NOT REPLACE TAYLOR LAUTNER! All of us that the books now have the visual picture of Jacob and its Taylor Lautner. Also Rob has to be alot in the movie & more than the book. He is Bella’s true Love and let’s not FORGET THAT.

  • Johnny

only 50 mil … if that’s true, we can kiss F/X goodbye, no CGI, lame wirework and so on … kristen and robert will be each getting 12mil for sequel, and if you look it from that angle, that’s even less budget then the first one … I’m just hoping that budget will be around 80-100mil $. Summit can afford it now, the movie already grossed around 180 mil worldwide, and i guess that it will make round 300 within the next month or two… so this 50mil budget makes really no sense to me…

  • Savannah

NO WAY! absolulty not! I hate it when the actor is changed in a movie series. It messes up the whole movie. I will be very very mad if Taylor does not play Jacob in the rest of the movies, and I am pretty sure a lot of fans will agree with me. Summit- Take the time to make a good movie. Do not rush the film. I would rather wait for a good movie, than not wait for a bad movie.

  • Trish L.

I respect the fact that they want to replace Lautner. The physical characteristics do not fit him. However, they do not really fit anyone. The demand for physical change that SHOULD be present in this movie are only possible with some enhancements. They can not simply replace him and hire someone else. He has a “Jacob” kind of innocence to him that the part needs. Sounds like they are just trying to get the movie made as fast as possible to cash in as much as possible. It is utter BS. I may even boycot it. Ok probably not as long as I get to see Pattinson. But Seriously. Summit please take a second to think about Twilight’s fans. Here’s hoping for a Great New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. We all know you can do it. BTW we all want to movie TODAY too, but just done RIGHT. :-)

  • M

    Dear Summit,
Please, please, PLEASE don’t mess New Moon up. Fans of the books enjoyed the story because it was funny, over-the-top-romantic, action-packed and exciting fantasy. DON’T reward our loyalty with a crappy $50M budget movie. (Think big: LOTR, HP, 300)
Please take your time in casting the right director and focusing on the awesome action/special effects so we can drag our boy friends to see this one and make you even MORE money.
Don’t ruin the plot by shoving Edward where he doesn’t belong. Make this good and we will pay to see all the movies and buy the DVDs and everything else.
The reason we went to see it more than once was because, yes, we kinda liked it but ALSO to give you enough money to properly invest in the rest of the franchise. You owe us, so don’t let us down.
