Earlier this week I gathered the four Golden Globe-nominated cast members of Doubt–Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams, and Viola Davis–for an extensive conversation about their thought-provoking new film. In part 1 of the interview, we talk about whether it was helpful for them to see Doubt on Broadway and the differences between film and theater audiences. More to come in the next few days.

Dave, this blog is freaking awesome, thanks! I think “Doubt” is in some serious Oscar trouble for Picture, but Streep is a virtual lock for Actress. Because I am an awards-obsessed fool, I’ve started a running tally of every award (and nomination)handed out this year leading up to the Oscars (http://www.scene-stealers.com/blogs/awards-tally-2008-handicapping-oscar-constant-updates/), and when you tally it up, it reveals that some of these races are pretty much over already. Except for that last-minute Oscar surprise (Juliette Binoche?)– which is why I love the show so much. Cheers!
Dave Karger, thank you. This is great. I truly feel that (EW critic) Lisa Schwartzman had a “chip on her shoulder” being pissed off that the
“Doubt” producers used movie actors, rather than the play’s actors. This interview atones for that poor
criticism on her part.
A very nice blog.
