Yes, Captain Nemo was originally Polish, not Indian. In ’20000 Leagues’ he is so Western, so European, that it rings false when he is presented as an Indian in ‘Mysterious Island’. In my opinion, they should show him as the character Verne first had in mind: he would be a Polish patriot. But then, this film is quite obviously going to be a lot of invention from the film-makers, whith only a little Verne in it. So it does not make much difference… Oh, I so wish someone would make a film that really followed the book! It should be a wonderful film.
