Wall-E and Grand Torino both deserve to be nominated!
Spot on except for The Dark Knight Though I only read the Reader I think would make better oscar fodder for best picture
You’re predictions are pretty spot-on, but I, too, am confused by Dev Patel’s nomination for Best Supporting Actor…the whole movie was ABOUT HIM. And though I think WALL-E should be nominated for Best Picture and Michelle Williams for Wendy and Lucy, I doubt it’ll actually happen.
i’m hoping leo gets a nom for revolutionary road- his finest work to date… I hope Milk wins Best Picture and R Rothchild hangs himself…

The two wild cards here are Cate Blanchett and Amy Adams. I could easily see Blanchett taking either Angelina Jolie’s or Sally Hawkins’s place on the ballot. Amy Adams is really, really hot right now. She might sneak into the supporting actress race on name alone.
I agree with almost all of the predictions except:
Replace “Dark Knight” with “Gran Torino” for best picture (unfortunately).
Replace Brad Pitt with Leonardo DiCaprio for best actor
Replace Taraji Henson with Amy Adams for supporting actress
Oh god, surely The Reader isn’t seriously being considered for Best Picture? It’s oscar bait alright. Oscar bait of the worst kind. A hollow, completely dull movie and I honestly don’t think Winslet deserves an Oscar for it.
Best Picture:
Doubt
Frost/Nixon
Benjamin Button
Milk
Slumdog Millionaire
Don’t discount Amy Adams’ supporting performance in DOUBT! I think she should get the nomination over Penelope Cruz.
I believe WALL-E should be nominated for Best Picture over Benjamin Button. Wall-E was so much more than just another “animated feature.” It was probably one of the best–if not THE best–films of 2008, hands down. Button is completely over-rated.
…and Leo DiCaprio should get the best actor nod (sadly) over Brad Pitt. Pitt barely had any emotion at all in Button–the character never had any depth. DiCaprio’s Frank Wheeler, however, deserves the academy’s attention.

I’m going to put this out there but RDJ could be the vulnerable one for Supporting Actor. It may be Eddie Marsaan for Happy Go Lucky, and if they truly go for Milk, see James Franco pop up alongside Josh Brolin. Long shot but may still happen.
