I’m going to see Frost/Nixon tonight, so bump that up $56 … or whatever they charge for a single ticket in New York City. (Actually by three, since there are three of us.)

    1) Underworld– 18 million. There have been so many horror movies out lately (Unborn, My bloody valentine), and they both opened to an excess of 19 million, so the movie has competition. Plus new stars wont help, and the fact that the previous underworlds had no horror competition.
2)Paul Blart: mall cop–18 million, it might make its way to number 1.
    3) Inkheart– 15 million. Doesn’t have the same magical effects that journey to the center and spiderwick had. still should open well.
    4) Gran Torino–14.5 million. No nominations will definatley hurt, and it also has a lot of competition.
    5) Slumdog Millionare– 12 million. The talk about this movie is getting ridic: amazing word of mouth shoudl propel it to a very strong wide opening weekend. And its averages for the last couple of months have been VERY strong. And of course expect it to enjoy very strong legs for the weeks to come.
Outside the top5: Revolutionary road– 7 million. Its kate and leo. come on.

Watch The Dark Knight take number 1 again this weekend. Fanboys everywhere are gonna go to spite the Academy. I suggest everyone who is upset about them snubbing TDK should not watch the Oscar telecast and go see Dark Knight in Imax instead!

With movies where a bunch of half naked young adults running from the bad guy, falling and tripping only to get hacked up, answering the phones when they shouldn’t and creepy girls crawling out of mirrors and dark places, UNDERWORLD was a refreshing change.
Not only do you get good characters from Underworld, you get a good storyline. Instead of choosing a bad or good guy, you get to pick a side of the lesser of two evils. For the previous two Underworld movies, you like the character, Selene. With the new movie, you finally get to see the torture and torment Lucian went through to become the leader of the Lycans.
I’ll definately buy Underworld – Rise of the Lycans when it comes out on DVD.
