Madonna is great for what she does, but she just doesn’t have the right vibe for this movie. Best to stick to the music the author was inspired by- if not the actual songs or artists. There is a very specific quality to the right music for these movies. Madonna just doesn’t have that dark and soulful edge. She just doesn’t.
Madonna in no way fits with the Twilight world. Her music is much too “pop” oriented. The music chosen for Twilight fit perfectly with the mood of the story and New Moon should be made similarly. No, no, no Madonna.

While my first instinct was NO! I thought back over Madonna’s songs and rembered “This Used to be My Playgound” from A League of Their Own and then she had “Crazy for You” in the movie Vision Quest. I think both are a very mellow haunting songs. If she does something like that, something to re-invent herself now, than it might work. We will just have to wait and see…. At worst, it will just be a song I skip over on the soundtrack.
