Viola Davis, Oscar-nominated for her performance in Doubt, is considered to be in a neck-and-neck race for the Best Supporting Actress statuette with Penelope Cruz, who got the nod for Vicky Cristina Barcelona. But Davis thinks her chances aren’t so great. “I am not going to write a speech just in case,” she told EW.com at the Women in Film cocktail party Friday night. “There are
so many spectacular performances in my category, including one
unbelievable one by my costar Amy Adams,
so I have kind of given up the even small hope that I might win, which
is probably character revealing. But I already feel like a winner to be
considered.” Still, she’s thought enough about Oscar acceptance speeches to realize what they’ve all been missing. ” I feel like knowing how to rap would totally come in handy
if you were a winner,” she says. “They are always cutting people off, but if you
were a fast rapper you could squeeze all your thank-yous into 30
seconds and that instrumental kickoff music would never catch you.” – reported by Carrie Bell

Taraji P.Henson can rap. So she should probably get the award.
i hope she wins… = ]
I hope she’s right. She doesn’t deserve to win, it was a brief and minor performance. Cruz deserves it!
She does deserve to win Nathan. It may have been brief but it certainly wasn’t minor.
Good point, Jen.
I hope she’s not in a neck-IN-neck race… maybe neck-and-neck…

I hope she’s right, because she doesn’t deserves to win
This is Penélope’s oscar, she should win….
She is the most deserving and if there is any justice and integrity in the Oscars — it is Viola Davis who should take home the oscar — I’ve seen all 5 performances and she by a mile stands far above the competition.
Nathan — it is called best supporting actress — and if you add up Cruz’s time — it would add up to close what Davis does in 12 minutes and not as effective. I don’t know about you but I think it’s more rewarding to win for a performance you actually deserve, she should have won for volver and I think she’s gonna win next year. Viola Davis was just sheer power, emotion and held her own against the great meryl streep.
This is the one category where I loved all of the performances. Any one of them could win. Amy Adams is underrated in her role, but Viola Davis is still my favorite.
