Oh please, not Anne Hathaway – still haven’t recovered from her “accent” in Becoming Jane. Get a proper English woman like Kiera Knightly or Anna Maxwell Martin (who should have been Jane Austen, not Jane’s sister).
    BTW I am American…

Why people think that the cast should be able to sing I don’t know. Audrey Hepburn didn’t sing in the original – she mimed to someone else doing the singing! Also Rex Harrison only spoke his ‘songs’. But even so I still don’t think they need to remake this film. Keira Knightley will spoil it for a start.

Okay, before everybody gets too outraged about them remaking My Fair Lady….you should know that this IS NOT a remake of that movie…it is not a musical. The original movie was based on a play by George Bernard Shaw. This is a straight adaptation of that play. No music.

If Hugh Laurie doesn’t play the role, I’m not going to see the movie, period.

My Fair Lady is one of my favorite movies and Pygmalion is one of my favorite stage plays and funny enough I am not that upset about this. There are some wonderful names attached – Daniel Day Lewis, Emma Thompson, Danny Boyle, Kiera Knightly and I think the integrity of the original play will be upheld by these actors and potential director. I am interested to see how it turns out.

I adore Jeremy Northam but he’s much too old to play Freddie. And as much as I love Colin Firth, I think casting Hugh Laurie as Henry Higgins would be brilliant. Especially with Stephen Fry as Pickering. I’m still trying to envision Daniel Day Lewis in the role, and I can’t imagine it.

If they’re going to remake this, they need to be VERY careful or else it’ll turn out like garbage. Danny Boyle would not be the right director to handle it.
I don’t even know why they would set themselves up for failure like this, considering how iconic Rex Harrison was in his role…
