People need to accept Watchmen for what it is. A very good adaptation of a graphic novel. Let’s talk about what was expected…Had folks read the novel they would understand and enjoy it. It was very well done a very true to the source material. The Watchmen and their predecesors The Minutemen were “crime fighters” more than super heroes and I think that it what most folks fail to realize. I think it was a very good film!!! I wish we could generate more positive buzz for it, but the damamge has been done

Sorry Watchmen fanboys. When a film drops 90% in second week receipts from its first week numbers, the word “plummets” accurately applies.
This embarrassing fall in receipts strongly indicates most people who saw the film the first weekend warned others to pass on it because it sucks like a Hover vacuum cleaner. I did.
I am a huge comic fan since childhood (decades ago) and I had high hopes for he Watchmen film. It seemed like I was in the theatre for four hours because this film was so slow. I am so glad I didn’t blow the extra money to see this watching grass grow film at an IMAX.
This film comes no where near the excitement of the Batman (the retooled Batman films), Spiderman and Ironman films.
It was like sitting through a 2 1/2 hour character study of comic heros and their group dysfunctions. Snooz.
This hugely disappointing film proves that some graphic novels, no matter how great they are in print don’t translate well on the silver screen.

The problem people have with Watchmen is that you actually have to think and follow the story. I agree with Jeff W down below.

So 55+ million is “disapointing”, but 25 million is good? Watchman still came in second this week with a respectable 18 million, not that far below Witch Mountain. Also remember that Watchman is longer and therefore has fewer showing. I’ve noticed that reviewers consistantly dislike movies that are longer than two hours. Small bladders, I guess. (And please don’t bring up the LOTR movies. A lot of critics whined about the length of those as well) Watchman was excellent, and we enjoyed it very much. Yes, it was dark – so was the source, and adults should be able to handle that. If you wanted something bang-bang shoot ‘em up mindless, without consequences, this movie is not for you.

I fell asleep the first 1/2 hours and try to stay awake the second half. I really want to like the movie but I just couldn’t get into it. There goes my $10.50 admission.

I really have to wonder if movie-goers like Truck and Bill Voigt would be better off at something shorter and more in line with their intellectual capacity, like a rodeo or a monster truck rally.. http://definition.gigazu.net/ga.html pci
