How can you compare a film which is in 12 theaters to one which is on 1000 screens. It’s the average per screen which is important. We have always known that Little Ashes would never do the same business as Twilight.
There was a time when EW critics had some credibility, but now they are run by Hollywood.
They write reviews about real people they know nothing about, maybe they should their homework, do some research.
Geez, I wonder if the people defending Little Ashes are delusional Twilight fans? Hmmm…
Movies like “Little Ashes,” with only 12 theaters, are expected to haul in a much greater per-theater average than that, then they are supposed to cool off once the theater count expands. EW is actually right about this one. With numbers like this, if it does expand, it will not fair very well.
You’re right…Wolverine IS the best action movie EVER! And Big Macs are the BEST burgers in the world!! Britney Spears is the BEST SINGER!!! AND WONDER BREAD IS THE BEST BREAD 4EVAH!!!!
This is crazy. I’ve seen both films. Whilst Wolverine was an enjoyable way to spend 2 hours I, and the rest of the cinema only got truely excited when Patrick Stewart appeared. Star trek was exciting right the way from the first frame right to the last.
DW – There’s a difference between “defending” and setting the record straight. I put the numbers out there for people to base their opinion on facts not slanted reporting (ahem EW).
Wolverine was an awesome blockbuster movie. I don’t want thought-provoking movies for the summer. All I want is over the top action, humor and a huge star driving the “vehicle”. And X-Men Origins: Wolverine had it all. Hugh Jackman was once again great as Wolverine (oh, and regardless their reviews on the movie as a whole, critics agreed that Hugh was awesome), so if the guy who plays the title character is GREAT, why should I have a problem? Oh, and this is for the ones here who claim that Wolverine is facing a bad worth of mouth. I suggest you have a look here and then come back and say your crap.

You see? 65% fresh reviews from the users. That’s not sooo bad, is it?
star trek fans i know you guys loved the movie… but c’mon its over… Star Trek fanbase is mediocre…
star trek = Charmed… its has the same number of fans…
Wolverine is in another level with spiderman batman and ironman
and for the record WOLVERINE IS THE BEST ACTION MOVIE EVER
Can’t we just agree that both Trekkies and comic book fans are equally nerdish and move on?
Not delusional. I just think its slanted reporting when you lump a film that made 6K per theater average with one that made 3K. I think anyone with half a brain would call that inaccurate reporting considering these are indies.
I am starting to think the Wolverine fans are being sarcastic. That is the only way to describe their manic love for a mediocre film at best.
Good information but there is a mistake in the article, there have been 10 previous films in the franchise, not nine, this film is the 11th.
Jeff
I will be surprised if Little Ashes doesn’t keep putting up numbers similar this as it expands to new markets.
Personally I’m for both movies. We always knew Wolverine would hit it big. With three other recent movies in the franchise, it’s n wonder.
Now considering where Star Trek is coming from – low box office openings in the past, I’m very excited to see Star Trek did so well. Hopefully this means more sequels and more awesomeness from Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto.
P.S – before this ST movie I wasn’t a fan of the franchise. Just goes to show what some genius movie making can do.
wolverine was an ok movie. it sure wasnt the best action movie. And please wolverine is not even close to as good as iron man was. im no trekkie but i found star trek to be one of the best movies i seen so far making it better then wolverine. just go watch it and you’ll see what i mean
