In the battle between enchanted museums and explosive machines, museums attracted a larger crowd on Friday according to box-office estimates. The family comedy Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian claimed the No. 1 spot Friday, grossing $15.3 mil. Smithsonian‘s opening-day total was star Ben Stiller’s best live-action debut ever, and the movie surpassed the opening-day result of its predecessor, Night at the Museum, which opened to $12.1 million in December 2006. Closely behind Smithsonian was Terminator Salvation with $14.8 million. When combined with its $13.4 million take on Thursday, Terminator‘s two-day total stands at $28.2 million. The weekend’s other notable debut, the dancing-movie spoof Dance Flick, flipped into fifth place with just less than $4 million. Friday’s rankings are below, and be sure to check back here on both Sunday and Monday for additional updates and a full holiday weekend recap.
1. Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian — $15.3 mil
2. Terminator Salvation — $14.8 mil
3. Angels and Demons — $6.1 mil
4. Star Trek — $5.8 mil
5. Dance Flick — $3.9 mil

Terminator will finish first.

Wow I’m surprised. But T4 will win.

I don’t think T4 will finish first actually. I think most of Museum’s audience will turn out on Saturday or Sunday when kids are out of school. And the word of mouth on T4 is probably bad. I haven’t heard of anyone who really like it much.
it hasnt gotten good critical reviews, but alot of regular people are likin it
i sure did
Everyday people are slamming T4 much worst than the movie critics. And Night @ the Museum isn’t performing much stronger. They will finish one and two but both Star Trek and Angels/Demons won’t be that far behind. Besides that, look at number 4, Dance Flick. Nobody would have guessed that’s looking to have a 18+ million dollar Memorial weekend.
Gervais and the rest of the cameos in NATM2 will top the rest of the competition!
HAHA T4 IS A FLOP IT WAS EXPECTED TO GET 100 MILLION OVER THE 5 DAYS, ARNOLD MUST BE HAVING A GOOD LAUGH, GO SEE DANCE FLICK IF YOU WANT TO SEE A GOOD MOVIE FOLKS, PLENTY OF LAUGHS, NO AGANSTY BALE, SATISFACTION GUARANTEED
T4 WON’T finish first. Night at the Museum is a family movie, meaning it will have a much bigger Saturday than its Friday and a fairly large Sunday too. T4 on the other hand, is the type that those excited for it make sure they see it day one and two. Sorry, if it didn’t beat NatM on Friday, it can’t the whole weekend.
I saw Terminator yesterday and, frankly, I was extremely disappointed. Of the four Terminator movies, this is probably #3 behind T2 and T1, and McG did not do himself any favors climbing out of his “franchise killer” stereotype. One too many head-scrachers and the robots were anything but.. well, terminators. I wont say the movie was horrible or anything; it was entertaining, OK, good. In other words, it was another “Wolverine.” “Star Trek” by far is the best movie of the Summer so far!
No Surprise T4 is a Flop, No Arnold!
Well…I saw both. And Terminator was beter than Night at the Museum. I gave Terminator a B+ and Night a B- …while EW gave the same grades but in reverse. Go figure.

Hate to correct you Chuck, but Arnold does make an appearance, at least a CGI version of the Governor.
I rate this new Terminator quite highly.
Seriously doubt Terminator will win because it is a frontloaded teen movie.
In the end it’s the worldwide box-office that matters and I think T4 will do just great…
people should watch and support Bale and T4 and not another trash flick from Stiller! bwahahahaha!
