Barbarella is one tough chick to keep down. Last week, hopes for a
remake of the 1968 erotic sci-fi classic seemed to vanish like, um,
Jane Fonda’s space suit in the original film’s sexy opening credits,
when Sin City director Robert Rodriguez turned down the project. (The reported reason: Universal wanted to shoot the picture in Germany,
while Rodriguez wanted to stay in Austin with his family.) Now it seems
that director Robert Luketic (Monster-in-Law, Legally Blonde)
is working with Dino De Laurentiis’company (which owns the rights to
the original property) to develop the picture with a different studio. “It will be a big intergalactic adventure with a sexy twist,” a
source close to the project tells EW.com. Beyond that, details are being kept top
secret, including who’ll be cast in Fonda’s old role (Rodriguez’s
girlfriend, Rose McGowan, had been attached at one point).

I would not mind seen Megan Fox as Bararella and some other very attractive actress as the evil queen tyrant. I use to think years ago that maybe Carmen Elecra or Eleziabeth Hurley might make for a good Barbarella in a remake.
This is a sticky subject… I wish the price tags and politics can stay out. Besides.. the germans can remake ‘Galaxina’or ‘The Queen of Outer Space’?
I wish I could remake this movie. I’d keep 60% of the original script concept. But I’d throw out the torn mini-skirt gags and give ‘Barbarella’‘Emanuelle’sexuality.
