Exclusive: Courteney Cox Arquette and David Arquette in discussions for 'Scream' reboot

Tagged: ,

If you needed proof that everything old in Hollywood is becoming new again, look no further than Scream. The mid-’90s franchise that sent-up slightly older horror flicks is being remade into a whole new set of movies, starting this fall. Writer-director Kevin Williamson has been working on a trilogy that will bring back many of the characters from the original movies.

And EW has learned exclusively that Williamson has approached Courteney Cox Arquette and David Arquette to return. Deals have yet to be signed, however, as all involved try to hammer out potential scheduling conflicts that could arise now that Courteney Cox Arquette’s pilot Cougar Town was picked up by ABC. (Agents for the actors have yet to return EW’s request for comment.) No word on whether Neve Campbell’s character, among others, will make the cut.

I loved the Screams. downloaded Red Right Hand this weekend. I’m all for it.

  • Can’t Wait!

…for the Terminator: Salvation remake – so long as it isn’t directed by anyone named McG.
(Seriously, this whole remake thing is getting way out of hand. What’s wrong with the original, which was released only a decade ago!?!)

  • Hmmm….

Scream was a horror movie that poked fun at horror movie cliches. Maybe these remakes will poke fun at remakes? They should.

Cox was freakin fantastic in the Scream movies. Hopefully they write a great script (better than Scream 3)

repeat, repeat, repeat, hollywood is so ridiculous now with all the remakes, first 90210, melrose place then terminator returns, the problem is a lack of quality with these new tv shows and films, don’t bother to remake it unless you have valid ideas. if there are going to be more scream movies, they better be really well thought out and no ugly neve campbell, i couldn’t stand looking at her ugly face for three more movies. she looks like a deformed poodle on crack. lets bring back punky brewster, golden girls with new old ladies, wow lets bring back ALF and SMALL WONDER! jesus hollywood, there are thousands of screenwriters out there with innovative original ideas out there in the world and in film school but instead you listen to the hacks. LAME!!!

jeez, these movies aren’t even that old. they only do this because people will go, though. scream terminator, 90210, melrose…they have a built-in fanbase–it’s guaranteed that at least some people will show up, as opposed to movies you’ve never heard of. still, this is very tired.

Why would you remake this 13 year later? Why not remake the Matrix while you’re at it.

Scream was a lame, non-humourous attempt to make fun of horror movies. The writing and acting was poor (OK it was a horror movie, those are to be expected). The 2nd and 3rd jsut made fun of the 1st Scream. What’s the point. make a silly horror movie about vegatables rising up; slicing and chopping up humans to get back at us!

They aren’t REMAKING “Scream”…it’s more of a sequel trilogy…this news broke months ago on horror movie websites. I’m SO there.
