I couldn’t figure out why there was a 3rd and 4th movie ever made. Explain please..

Teekay makes an interesting point. There are some curious “loose threads” of storyline details left between “Alien” & “Aliens” films. I love me some Sigourney Weaver, but, I’m not sure if her Ripley caracter would be able to fit in a prequel, (,..but in sequential writing/storytelling, anything’s possible). While the first two films absolutly are classic & set the standard, I’m not of those who find much fault with 3 or 4, or even the Sanaa Lathan led “Aliens Vs. Predator”. All were interesting & entertaining to me on a number of levels. I do hope, however, that a 5th Alien film done as a prequel by original director Ridley Scott, will be the final & dynamically worthwhile completion to what has truly been a remarkable series creation.

“I’m game for a prequel by Ridley Scott! “Bring It On!!!”

I think FOX is wrong here. They seem to be convinced that an ALIEN sequel won’t make money and I dont think thats the case. They dont need to produce a PREQUEL or a REMAKE. That’s one of most notable AVP screw ups.
THEY SIMPLY NEEDS TO FINANCE THE RIGHT FILM and they will make their money back.
Pay Scott to direct, Giger to design, maybe get Cameron to Write and co-produce. Maybe consider ending the Ripley storyline. Point is, the movie they need to make is waving them in the face and they are somehow convinced it wont work, when all they need to do is use the series original creators who have all express interest in making a sequel.
It is truly sad that they doubt they ability of the very talent that made them and this series profitable to begin with.
And that’s why they will fail.

Its only going to be a prequel. Ridley Scott has said he was always very intrigued by the flight of the derelict spacecraft, jockey and its origins. Thats the storyline that can redeem the frachise

The only logical way for Sigourney Weaver (Riley) to appear in the prequel would be as a cameo for the first 10 minutes. The movie would need to start in the present (after Riley and the android, Wionna Ryder, return to earth) at a congressional hearing that would involve Sigourney Weaver against the company that employed her. In her investigation of her company, she would discovered the truth where the aliens came from, what the aliens mission were and how her company got involved in this. As she is telling this, the movie would sequence into “Alien: The Prequel.”

The prequel with Scott would be awesome.
if they did a sequel the only way to make sense would be for Ripley to wake up after being removed from her sleep chamber. Find out the last 2 films were all a dream, that Hicks is alive (give Michael Beign so more acting work), and that they had some issue with the suspended sleep that aged everyone 20 years, so Newt could be the new bad ass and Ripley, Hicks, and Bishop are supporting characters.
A little suspension of disbelief required but that would be the only way to wipe off the memory of 3,4 and the stupid AVP movies

There have been 6 alien films, not 4 – Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, AVP, and AVP Requiem.
For the record, Alien 3 was a good film. It was in keeping with the original. It just wasn’t a blockbuster, which is why it doesn’t have mass appeal. If anything, the quest for mass appeal is where they’ve gone wrong. Trying to keep Ripley on life support, and the topical but silly genetic cross-breeding themes of 4 and 6 are what hurt the franchise.
It shouldn’t matter if they do a prequel or sequel, as long as they stay true to the canon. That’s why star wars, star trek, indiana, and bond have each worked over decades.
If it’s a prequel, they should forget about Ripley and talk about what happened on LV-426. But either way, kudos for Fox seeing the error of their ways and standing on principal.
Ram, you have an excellent concept, btw.

    NO Sigourney Weaver
    NO ALIEN.

This doesn’t sound promising to me. Why dilute the mystery of the space jockey from the first film and – yeah – why would you want to watch a movie without human beings in it? If they must make another “Alien” movie, I’d vote for a sequel with Sigourney Weaver, instead of a prequel.

No more reboots!! Let me direct it. I’ll put Predators in it and make it way cooler.

I would recommend to get serious about this movie, if its just another special effects movie with aliens and predators jumping around I won’t even watch it on Blu Ray. http://life-rgvk.blogspot.com

ok the first 2 were awsome. fox studios messed up avp and avp2 with terrible acting. weaver said she would do another one get her she is the franchise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dont make another bad alien movie u guys did fine untill you hit alien 3 and then for some reason did ressurection. i love the series its the all time best in sci-fi. nothingwill top aliens(secound movie)

Revealing the mysterious Space-Jockey would be a bad idea.
A movie/series needs to reveal something in every film to keep us intrigued and entertained, but it needs to keep mystery for the exact same reason.
And don’t put Ripley in it. She’s a great character, but she died in #3. Let her rest in peace.
I think their best bet is to show us a story where Weyland-Yutani had a previous encounter with an Alien/Aliens somewhere previous to the first film, and let us in on how much they actually know about the “Xenomorph” when they had Ash pick it up in the first film.

Aliens is one of the best films ever. I have seen it countless times, but the last time I watched it I appreciated the movie even more still. The pyrotechniques in aliens is unreal and they did it without all that digital crap they make movies out of these days.
