FAIL!
Gosh, I hope it’s as good as Galactica 1980
We can only hope….
If the movie is not related to the TV Series, then I’m with the majority of the fans here. I’m out!
I second this motion along with all the fans of BSG.
Agree! The movie must be made like the original TV series. Bring us lasers, hot dagget!
While this may turn out to actually be a quality film… it is completely and utterly pointless. If Singer is still set on a BSG feature film, do “The Man of Steel” first. Then, five or six years down the road, if he’s still interested, bring up the prospect of revisiting BSG. The CLASSIC television reboot will go down in history as some fantastic storytelling (because it so wonderful transcended even its own genre, as most timeless sci-fi works do) which took on an astounding life of its own, separate from the original series. And its still in motion, with “The Plan” and the spin-off series “Caprica.” Now, if Singer wanted to use the new BSG cast for a sort of stand-alone film, I would be beyond excited. But this just stings not only of stupidity, but disregard for the cult that is so passionate and vocal about this frakking brilliant show. So say we all.
P.S. Singer’s concept art for the Cylon centurions, when he was planning a re-imagination in 2001? Hideous. But his sets did look pretty great…
There’s no denying the re-imagined BSG has a huge cult following. Still I believe there will be enough interest by those who liked the old show and didn’t care for Ron’s post 9/11 version. Larson should try to mix camp space adventure with believable realism. Make it a bit more family friendly: Snapping babies necks isn’t necessary to portray the process of genocide. But please keep some of the hot nude fembots in! Beats a dagget every day!
Wow, you guys are about as crazy as Twilight fans… Team Edward! Team Jacob! I refuse to buy the cover if Robert Pattinson isn’t on it! I refuse to see this if Ronald Moore isn’t involved.
Ronald Moore told his story. And for the record, the last 2 seasons sucked. The finale was an abortion. There’s no reason why someone can’t successfully reimagine it again.
I can’t speak for everyone, but for me it has nothing to do with Ron Moore’s involvement, and everything to do with the fact that this simply smacks of an attempt by Glen Larson to cash in on the new life the SyFy series gave BSG. It seems that Larson needs to respect the fact that the new BSG turned his horrible, derivative, forgotten show into a bona fide classic. He could at least let fans get through their season 4.5 DVDs before firing up the remake/reimagining machine.
And for the record, the last 2 seasons were indeed somewhat uneven– but the finale was exceptional.
Agreed. And keep in mind Larson was a total curmudgeon about the new series, he outright refused to work with Moore and Eick on anything. That doesn’t mean he’s incapable of turning out a quality product, but the fact that he so denigrated the recent series should at least be a red flag. It’s one thing to feel someone isn’t true to your original vision, but respect that the work is objectively quality. It’s another to outright trash someone’s work because it’s different from yours.
I don’t have a ton of faith in Larson and Singer’s ability to re-re-imagine in any way that’s going to be profound or meaningful so quickly after the ending of the BSG we know and love. It’s both cynical and — my suspicions only — ego-driven on Larson’s part. Oh well, at least the annoying folk who have been tromping around on the skiffy boards pouting about the suckiness of “GINO” the past few years will finally have to shut up. I hope.
Meh. Singer’s last two films were boring.
First buffy, now this! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Sorry, but the powers that be got it right with the reboot. Not interested in the reimagining of the reimagining of BSG. So saw we all.
That could work if using some fresh cast. SyFy BSG was great but the stort is told and we need a younger team. What about Megan Fox playing both Adama and Apollo. There is already a great mystery here why they look the same.
Yes! Add Malin Akerman (Watchmen) as Starbucks and you got a great movie. Only young and goodlooking women survived the initial attack and they are searching for men so mankind will survive.
Malin looked great in that latex costume in Watchmen. They should all wear the same.
I will airlock the lot of you for ignoring the awesome BSG
The only way this movie will work is when they ignore and alienate the current fans and show some creativity. Airlock them, indeed.
Worst. Idea. Ever. First, everybody was so afraid that they would screw up the BSG remake, but they didn’t, and we were given not only the best sci-fi show in years, but also one of the finest shows of all time. Now, they’re re-imagining it AGAIN?! What the frak?! This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. No Starbuck, no Adama, no Roslin, no Apollo, etc? Don’t count on my support.
But don’t you see the ironie here? We only got SciFi BSG because they ignored the fans that were afraid. To get a great movie they need now to ignore the fans that are afraid now.
Rosenrot – you ignorant pissant

there is a big difference between re-imaging a popcorn scifi show that has been off tv for over 13 years AND a Peabody award winning show that which has set the bar for scifi tv shows , that has been off TV for LESS THAN A YEAR.
you are an idiot.
Boooooo!
A reimagining of a reimagining. Brilliant!!!
Can’t anybody in Hollywood come up with an original idea?
This makes no sense at all…why re-imagine the original TV series for a movie when it was just done on SyFy so brilliantly?
I feel sick.
