Sad to see Ponyo not doing better. It’s a bit sad that so many parents would apparently rather take their kids to see loud, obnoxious and ultimately fairly shallow kiddy fare like G-Force over a sweet, heartfelt movie like Ponyo.
I would have loved to see “Ponyo” but it doesn’t seem to be playing anywhere in its original language. I’m sure the dubbing is nicely done but I want to see it the way it’s meant to be seen.
Anybody know if its playing in japanese anywhere in the Georgia area?
Isn’t Ponyo an animated movie? Why should it matter if it’s dubbed or not?
I doubt that it would be playing anywhere in Japanese because general audiences usually prefer dubs, especially in the case of animation
Friday night results often don’t tell the whole story. A box office weekend unfolds over three days and Saturday’s results are bringing the big picture into focus. District 9 had a drop of +11% yesterday. G I Joe surged to a huge Saturday total of +9 million. And The Time Traveler’s Wife did a death drop of nearly 20%. Of the other new films, The Goods will do about 6 million while Bandslam was totally shunned. The surprise of the weekend for me was seeing The Perfect Getaway nearly sell out. Granted, at the multiplex I saw it in it was playing in the small theater with approximately 96 seats but the movie was actually an entertaining little thriller even with figuring out the story five minutes after it starts.
Going to go see it right now!
I would think Julie & Julia would do better… I guess not.
