'Red Dawn' update: Jeffrey Dean Morgan to join cast of remake

Tagged:

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, last seen as The Comedian in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen, will be returning to the action genre in MGM’s remake of Red Dawn. He is in final negotiations to portray Lt. Andrew Tanner, the role played in the original by Powers Boothe. However, whereas in the original Boothe played a fighter pilot shot down behind enemy lines, in the remake Morgan’s Tanner will be a special forces leader, operating behind enemy lines. Production on the film starring Chris Hemsworth and Josh Peck as the leaders of a group of teenagers who band together to fight back against an invasion by Chinese and Russian soldiers has already begun in Michigan. It will open next September. Morgan is currently filming The Losers for Warner Bros.

Perfect choice, if you ask me. I watched the movie a couple months ago, and Powers Booth reminded me a lot of JDM.

ahhhh. yet another classic 80′s movie being destroyed for the sake of doing it. makes me sick to even think about how bad this piece of shit is going to be.

idk if we were watching the same movie but any remake of red dawn would be an upgrade. great idea, impacting first scene, but the movie was utter crap.

This movie so going to SUCK bigtime. Josh Peck? Really? They should call this movie Pink Sunrise, not Red Dawn. It insults the original movie.

Not even my love for JDM can convince me to see this piece of trash. Hollywood, get some new ideas and leave the classics alone!

I had high hopes for Hollywood after district 9, but this is more proof that they’re totally out of ideas. This movie will be garbage. It worked in the 80′s because of the cold war. How the hell is it gonna work now?

Who are they casting in the Ron O’Neal and William Smith roles. The Russians who went directly after the Wolverines?

How many movies must this man ruin? Sure, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the poor man’s Robert Downy Jr. but for chrissakes, aren’t people sick of Denny’s sloppy tears, scraggly homeless guy beard, fat belly and quivery chin already? This man is box office poison.

I love JDM, but I can’t for the life of me see why anybody thinks that this remake is a good idea.

Remaking Red Dawn is pure blasphemy! Totally unnecessary.

New cast members in the Remake of the 1984 movie wow? When does it come out?

  • Shirley Hoggard

Why is Mark Schlereth never mentioned as a member of the cast? Isn’t he going to have a part? I read that he was in Detroit shooting a small part. He is the reason I will watch the movie, no matter how small a part he has. Thanks for a response.

this movie seems totally fake and is being put out there to make fun of the first ,they should make it because it is going to suck due to the fact theat they are rearranging all the charaters and making a joke ,if they are going to countinue production they have alot of things they need to fix on this film
