I know this is Supporting Actor (and Christoph Waltz should win, but you never know), but Melanie Laurent should definitely get a nomination, Her performance was amazing. Diane Kruger was excellent as well.

  • Natasha

Peter Capaldi in In the Loop!!

  • Marty

How about Colin Firth in Easy Virtue as Supporting Actor? He was great it in. The good news is he will get the nod for Best Actor for A Single Man.

It might be bold, but here are my current top five supporting actors:
    -Christoph Waltz ‘Inglorious Basterds’
    - Stanley Tucci ‘The Lovely Bones’
    - Matt Damon ‘Invictus’
    - Tobey Maguire ‘Brothers’
    - Kevin Spacey ‘The Men Who Stare at Goats’

(For the record, ‘Precious’ seems like it’s going to be last year’s ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ in sense, where it’s solidly good but overrated.

And please, anyone feel free to answer my question:
Why is George Clooney buzzed about a being a supporting actor contender in ‘Goats’? It looks like it’s about him more than anyone.

I thought Ben Whishaw and Paul Schneider were great in Bright Star. I know Abbie Cornish has ganered attention for that film. Why not them?

  • Vincey

    John Turturro for Transformers 2.

  • Emil

What about Jim Broadbent in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince?? He was loved by the critcs across the board and the movie was the best reviewed of the series so there is credit to the film. And his scene in the Hagrid’s cabin as her confesses his secret memory can give anyone the chills!
