  • Well…

Who is this guy? Seems like a goof-ball.

  • Todd Abolo

Still can’t believe this guy co-wrote “Toy Story.”

SyFy should wake up and resurrect the FIREFLY/ SERENITY series. Yeah, “Terminator” would be a fun sideways for Joss, but let’s do What Everyone Really Wants! Or at least pick up DOLLHOUSE when Fox screws that up, once again.

Joke. On WHEDONesque. Joke among friends & fans. Joke playing on his love of Terminator, his un-mogul-osity, etc. Joke on a small fansite. Media is responsible for blowing it up, spreading it, etc.

Joke. Everybody’s so odd about Joss. He’s quietly kidding. Everyone else is getting their kniickers all bunchy and twisty.

Sorry. I just don’t get all the hatin’ on Joss. ‘BtVS’, ‘Angel’ and ‘Firefly’ were all intelligent, well-written shows that mixed horror, humor, wit and thoughtful social commentary in a unique way that’s never been equalled on TV since. Their cultural influence has been profound, although you may not realize it. (Maybe explains why there are ongoing academic conferences and books of
critical analysis about his work? Seriously, check it out: http://slayageonline.com/ )

The man loves “Terminator” and isn’t afraid to admit it. He’s kinda awesomely, genuinely fanboyish himself, something that everyone on here who loves a genre show (of whatever stripe) should be able to relate to. Some directors are nothing more than marketing shills or corporate tools. Joss is neither. He may never be a “blockbuster” director, but as long as he stays committed to doing what he loves with guts and integrity, he’s good in my book.

Not sure why everybody’s so upset. The Joss Anti-Fan is as cultish as the Joss fan. Every conversation devolves into this.

I always understood the fan impulse. The anti-fan who memorizes everything about a person’s work they say they hate confuses me to no end.

Whedon lost his mojo when he lost the funny (witness Dollhouse)

But a funny Terminator of the rings? Sure – I’d watch that (at least once!)

  • AFanoftheVerse

Obviously Joss isn’t serious about his bid. But if he was I would at least give the show/movie a try then if I didnt like it I would move on. Personally I think Joss should do a show like SNL since he has some funny stuff. Keep it short and sweet. Mix and match from the shows he has done already and throw in some new stuff. IMO

Great; Buffy the Terminator. Maybe he can help Sarah Michelle Gellar jump-start her career.

  • Naws

Sarah Connor is *the* prototypical female bad ass. She and Ellen Ripley are like the matriarchs of the female-driven action genre. So it’s small wonder that a feminist like Joss wants to control the rights to Sarah’s story.

  • john connor

If joss did the next terminator movie , it might be great. it would have to be better than salvation, or what they had planned for # 5.
the good news is that with the rights sold maybey mcg and the awful writers of salvation and c.bale will not be involved with T-5.
*****and hopefully we will get TSCC back on a cable channel

  • RikerDonegal

I loved TSSC as it was…

    It was perfect.

But Joss Whedon on it would have made it even more perfect…

  • Lia

I love Joss Whedon but other then Dr. Horrible, has he ever written a strong male protagonist? And even in that, you wanted to knee Nathan Fillion in the pills and loved Neal Patrick Harris.

  • Jimmy

    Joss Whedon is God

  • Jay

OK, let me break this down for all the people who can’t or won’t think. Mostow directed the unoriginal T3 which was a parody of T2=STUPID CRAP. Joss Whedon loves this? McG directed T4 with 2 Charlie’s Angels films under his belt then does a so-so T4 with sybolism=BETTER CRAP. Joss Whedon loves this? A so-so series=hit or miss crap. Joss Whedon loves this? And now, Joss Whedon with Buffy the Vampire Slayer+random TV SHOWS under his belt is gonna turn the Terminator Franchise around? LMAO You people are ridiculous! It’s not hard to save this franchise, you just have to stop “taking the movies in new (damned) directions” and build off what has come before, and by that I mean stick to T1 dialogue only and some of the facts about T-800s and Skynet from T2. Then, make the story. Oh, and get someone with talent who doesn’t want to re-film scenes from the previous movies or F it up with over-used pop culture dialogue. It’s called talent and focusing on what the story should be. Get some!
