If I ever happen to glimpse any of them on TV, no matter what part, I will leave Forrest Gump, Jurassic Park, Selena and Twister on to watch.
-
hope
I know it’s worth a laugh, but I love the old BBC Narnia movies,as well as Bambi, Indiana Jones. just off the top of my head at the moment

The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, High Fidelity, Forrest Gump, The Cider House Rules, and Terms of Endearment
-
amanda
Yes, the Breakfast Club! I simply cannot turn the station when I see it on TV
-
wtf
High Fidelity rules! I love the part where he talks about how John Dillinger was turned in by his girlfriend…his F***ing girlfriend! love that line
-
The Ween
You can’t forget the other John Cusack classics – I MUST watch Say Anything, Grosse Point Blank, and Better Off Dead each and every time. I want my two dollars!

O, Brother where art thou
Terms of Endearment
Steel Magnolias
Jaws
Close Encounters
Color Purple
The Birds
Rear WindowMy daughter can recite entire scenes from Steel Magnolias, and we own the dvd, but if it comes on TV, we stop everything. O, Brother never gets old, only funnier every time I see it.
Also it goes without saying that Gone with the Wind and the Wizard of Oz gets me every time. Just can’t change the channel. -
Lisa
I have seen Steel Magnolias and Color Purple a gazillion times each and I still sob like a baby at each one of them — the scene in SM with Shirley and Olympia at the cemetery never fails to crack me up and the ending of CP can reduce me to a puddle every time

What no Dirty Dancing on the list? Fess up, ladies.
Twister
Jaws
Shawshank
Roadhouse ( can’t justify it)
Jurassic
Any Star Wars
Die Hard ( the first)
Step Up (still not justifying)
Armageddon-
Lisa Schwarzbaum
The best ones are those you can’t justify.

Re Dirty Dancing – I will fess up inexplicably yet unabashedly.
-
Laurin
DD, Jaws and Twister definitely!! Own ‘em and still watch on tv…
Also Save the Last Dance. Clueless, 10 things I hate about you, Hairspray and any 80″s brat pack movie.

Moulin Rouge! It blows my mind every time, from the music to the costumes to the acting it is a truly great movie.
-
Sarah
I agree. Moulin Rouge is an awesome movie. You can’t help but sing along when you watch it!

Maybe it’s James Van Der Beek’s atrocious Texas accent, but every time Varsity Blues comes on TNT, I end up watching the entire movie…even if I miss appointments, school meetings, dates, etc. Same with the first half of both Independence Day (up til when aliens start blowing up U.S. cities) and Armageddon (up til the misfits get into space).
Also: my father introduced me to “Sound of Music” at age 8 (turns out it was the first movie he saw at the first cinema that opened in his tiny home country). I’ve seen it almost 100 times since.

Dr. Stranglove. Seen it many times. I DVR’ed it two years ago and it is still on there. Never get tired of seeing Gen. Jack D. Ripper explain to Peter Sellars that he is bombing the Russians because of a Commie plot he thought of while he couldn’t perform in the bedroom.
-
Laura
Ah, Dr. Strangelove…one of my all-time faves. The best time I watched this was one morning at work (I work in an electronics department of a department store) and I found it while I was looking for something to leave on whilst I set up the area for the day. I had like 15 people come up and thank me for putting that on, because they loved it so much. After that was over, I had to put “Transformers” on. God, that was painful.

The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars Movies. They get me every time. I have no idea how many times I have seen them all, and I don’t really care. I will always be a geek at heart!

Oh Dear God, where do I begin. Oh first off I live in Fargo, and I own the movie Fargo and have seen it many times… We arnt like that up here in the Northern Plains. Chicago people asked me on a trip once where I was from and when I replied Fargo they looked alittle frieghtened. Really- Chicago against Fargo. Hmmm. Anyway that was way off track, Um Star Wars series, Harry Potter series, and Disney movie especially the Reinassance era, Halloween,Halloween 2- not Zombies, the originals. Friday the 13th, Jaws, Jaws2, Dumb and Dumber, Ace Ventura, Tim Burtons Batman and Batman Returns. Pixar movies, Indian Jones series- I like the Last Crusade and Raiders. The scene where the arab comes at him from the crowd with the big sword and he just shoots him, practically kills me, I die laughing.

Airplane (never gets old..another joke every two seconds)
Sixteen Candles (so many great characters/setups)
Moulin Rouge (never been another movie like it)
Scream (funny and scary!!)-
Jennifer
Oh it’s a pretty white plane with curtains on the window and wheels and it looks like a big Tylenol”

The Sting for me rather than Butch Cassidy. Jurassic Park, which is one of my first big movie theatre memories. Most embarassing/inexplicable: Robin Hood: Men in Tights. I saw it when I was young enough to think it was the funniest thing in the world and now I’m in my 20s and still laugh when I know I shouldn’t.
