In the premier of the ORIGINAL movie-length version of “Battlestar Galactica,” we the Audience, were treated to somethng UNHEARD of and UNSEEN since then: The Cylons are destroying Caprica, people are screaming, buildings crumbling all around, and a little boy (His name is Boxey) is looking for his pet dagget (dog on this planet). The pet is running towards the escape pod- his human little boy is calling for him to hurry – all of the audience is rolling their eyes as to the obligatory “last chance escape” but the dog (er, “dagget”) is CRUSHED BY FALLING DEBRIS JUST AS HE REACHES THE POD!!! What!?! We all yelled. But yes- they KILLED the dog-et, dagget- whatever.
Real tragedy in a science-fiction show.
Well, they DID waste precious limited resources building a robot replacement for the kid- but hey THEY KILLED THE DAGGET (er Oh YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!!!)
Still, IIRC- the show did last only one season, still a few critics were impressed at the moxie shown by the ABC Star Wars ripoff…
Just MY two cents.

Why? Because pet dogs are are so much worthier than humans.

The dog in the movie was 100% a red and white Japanese Chin. My family has owned 3 so far (one has passed). They are incredible dogs, often joked about being like cats. They were the imperial dogs of Japan brought from China and are amazingly intelligent and astute. They are SUCH great companions. My dog Ling even had a tongue that stuck out the same side as Caesar’s. I stayed to watch the credits at the end of the movie to find out Caesar’s real name. If anyone can find out please post =)

Of course, one also has to question why they saved giraffes and elephants and took great costs to ship those animals rather than saving more people…

Well heres a simple questions.. Why dont dogs deserve to live?
No offence but that is quite a selfish question. Yeah humans are smart and the dominant species on earth but we share this world with millions of other creatures. If thousands of humans were saved (yeah i know thats a little compared to how many people died) then at least one of each animal should get a chance to survive as well. I find nothing wrong with people obsessing over their dogs, their just animal lovers and if you ask me, we need a lot more of those.Every one loves something in life whether its shoes or dogs. So if you ask me no one should be hating on the people who love animals, hate on the people who love materialistic things. Seriously! -
