that makes me wonder… what do you guys think will happen when eclipse comes out? will it fail at the box office or get better results than new moon?

    • Katie

I’m a casual Twilight fan (not a hater, not a fanatic) and I think New Moon is probably this series’ peak — and what a peak. Eclipse will do well, but probably not THIS well. It has much stronger competition at the box office, a less-pedigreed director, the same crap screenwriter, etc. You can also start to see backlash setting in. And the only reason Eclipse is out next summer is because Summit wanted to about Harry Potter in November. Will it bomb, of course not. But I don’t expect it to have a $140 million dollar opening weekend, either.
As for Breaking Dawn, whoever gets stuck directing it is going to have a beast of a time conjuring up a watchable film from the material. That’s a book even many of the diehards can’t stand, and if it opens in the summer, it could get ugly.
Again, will any Twilight film “bomb”? Probably not. But I still think New Moon is probably the franchise’s high water mark.

Yeah, meant to say “avoid” Harry Potter. It’s late, what can I say. :-)

WTF? New Moon earned $200 million already? Does America really have such bad taste?

The Lady Gaga worship is too much, but the NEW MOON craze isn’t????

At least Gaga is wonderfully innovative and fun.

So Ellen, thank you for posting it and I’m posting it again:

    • Steve the Pole

Yeah, but just think if you were an unlucky husband or boyfriend who got dragged along with them, you ‘d probably wake up sore but satisfied the next day.
