Harry Potter films are of a higher quality and more family friendly. Twilight is a wannabee.
OMG People Noone in either studio is comparing the two franchises. The only people who even started this nonsens of comparing Twilight and HP series are the movies’ fans. Go to the movies and watch them and enjoy them but stop with this ridiculous comparison.
people fighting over the merits of new moon and harry potter? at least the latter are well crafted. looks like word of mouth and reviews do matter though. twilight will go down as some of the most overrated, over-hyped movies of the last decade. guarantee it! you are defending the value of a movie that will sweep the teen choice awards? why?
Lots of Harry Potter snobs around here. And I love how an article spotlighting the success of The Blind Side has devolved into a shouting match between people who like HP and people who like Twilight. So. Tired. Of. This.
It all started when a stupid jerk mentioned that new moon is earning more than hp or something like that.
I notice you conveniently and ignorantly forget that the VERY FIRST POST was some Twihard gloating about “beating” HP (even though it hasn’t yet and probably won’t). Everything after that is a response to him. So take your blinders off and put the blame where it belongs.
And plenty of people on here are also talking about The Blind Side’s success. It’s going nowhere but up and New Moon is going nowhere but down. It’s great.
Blame the dumb twi-tards. I’m just disappointed that HP fans took the bait and started arguing with the loser. They KNOW HP makes more money regardless of how you spin it, but they just say that to be purposefully annoying. I don’t give a crap. The Blind Side was an amazing film and it deserved that success and I can’t wait to buy the HP dvd tonight.
I’m so SICK OF TWILIGHT and anything related. I would have been pumped if even Transylmania had beaten New Moon. (which is a bit ironic as New Moon is OLD NEWS!!!!)
P.S. There has been such a HUGE divide between audience and critics this year that I Will NEVER Care what they say again.
Some of the stuff IE Where the Wild Things ARE that they recommended were crap—and I loved some of the things they panned.
To make matters worst I heard that New Moon DVD might come out in Feburary. That seems to early to me. It’s like Summit is literally shoving it down people throats.
I want to see the Blindside. Maybe I’ll go see it tomorrow and take my nieces to see the “Frog and the Princess” Saturday.
Look at the per theater averages and the number of screens, too. New Moon was playing on 4,000+ screens and only managed $15 million? Brothers was playing on HALF that many screens yet only made a few million less.
I hope the people saying that New Moon would beat Transformers 2 for #1 film in the U.S. this year feel pretty silly. If it keeps plummeting like this (it’s dropped 70% and 60% on successive weekends with virtually no new major competition), it’s NOT going to hit $300 million domestically.
Both Twilight and Harry Potter are enjoyable entertainment. However, JK Rowling, is by far, a better and more entertaining writer than Stephanie Meyer. Potter is no longer the new kid on the block and is bound to draw comparison to Meyers’ series but there is no doubt which is better…Potter by a mile!
I’m just throwing this out there… Hayden Pantierre would’ve made a great Bella Swan. http://bit.ly/4G5pT1
