After wowing audiences at the Venice and Toronto film festivals, Tom Ford’s sumptuous drama A Single Man opens tomorrow, at which point the awards buzz for Colin Firth should raise a few notches in volume—particularly when he lands a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor this Tuesday. In Part 2 of our OscarWatch interview, in which Firth talks about working with Ford. Check back here next week for Part 3.

Cannot WAIT to see this movie! I hope it doesn’t take long to open wide nationally.
I’ve been a Colin Firth fan ever since he so completely embodied the soul of Mr. Darcy. I don’t think you can be a woman, and fan of Jane Austen, and not have been affected by that performance!
He’s a fine actor and I’m so excited that he’s finally gotten the opportunity to take center stage in a film worthy of his talent. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing this one!
Classy, classy man. I think he gave just a tiny bit of a spoiler there (at least for me, since I don’t know anything about where the plot line ultimately goes), but I suppose it doesn’t matter. His performance looks like it will be stellar, as always.
the film is good – not great(little too film school 201 for me) but the production design is stellar(duh) and Colin’s performance is heartbreaking.
Holy wow, I’ve GOT to see this movie.
Dave Karger is so freakin’ adorable!
I cannot wait to see this movie. I think it will spectacular. I love Matthew Goode and I really like Colin Firth so I expect great things from this film.
Tom Ford has a great eye for style and I read that the crew that does the set for Mad Men did this movie, so I bet it will also be great visually.
Colin Firth + Gay Rols = Oscar Nomination.
Oops, Gay Role…
If there is any justice during Awards Season, this man will be honored multiple times and I hope he gets the Oscar.
i adore Colin too but suspect the Oscar will go to Morgan Freeman
I just saw this movie, and it was the single most perfectly heartbreaking thing I’ve seen in ages. It’s so rare these days that I want a movie to be half an hour longer, but I didn’t want to part with this character.
Just what “F” said above. I’ve seen this film 4 times now – twice at the Toronto Film Festival, a preview screening last week and at a regular screening yesterday. Heartbreaking and lingering. Am I crazy to want to see it again?
Kudos to this wonderful actor. I pray Colin Firth receives the Oscar. If anyone deserves this award, its Mr. Firth.
