(500) Days of Summer <3
Shocked Precious didn’t get a Best Film nomination…considering it’s Detroit…at least Gabby and Monique got recognized…and 500 Days of Summer rules so I’m glad that got some love also!
Yay Star Trek!
Alison Lohman as BEST ACTRESS in Drag Me To Hell – totally AWESOME if not completely surprising! The Inglourious Basterds love is making me giddy!!!
Nice to see some surprises. Love the 500 Days of Summer noms (JGL!) and the support for Zombieland.
Coolest nominations yet?
LOVE the “Invictus” shut-out, “500 Days” nods (unfortunately none for Zooey though) and Ronan getting recognized for Best Actress
Too bad the Acadmey won’t be given Ronan love since the movie basically sucks.
Love, love, love the recognition for Alison Lohman in Drag Me to Hell and JGL in 500 Days of Summer.
My only wish is that Jeremy Renner snuck onto the Best Actor list since his was my favorite lead performance of the year.
Wow! A nomination for Sam Rockwell in “Moon”? That is a new one. I heard it’s a good movie and Sam does a great job…
Two nods for Woody Harrelson??? Wow!!!
Hmmm. How come these seem like the smartest nominations out there so far this season? Very surprising and well thought out. Anyone else think Avatar, now that it’s been screened, may shake future noms up a lot?
I think it may. Advanced word is that the film is incredibly awesome. I think it most likely will shake things up in the best director race. Jason Reitman and Kathryn Bigelow are shoo-ins but Cameron could easily knock out Tarantino, Eastwood, or Lee Daniels (the likely causality) from the race. (Sorry…loved 500 Days of Summer but not thinking the Academy is going to bombard this with nods…getting a Best Picture nomination will be award enough for it.)
Marion Cotillard = <3
The most surprising thing here is that 4 of the 5 Best Pic nominees were released in the summer or earlier. It’s nice to see recognition for films that aren’t Nov-December release Oscar bait.
Glad to see “Drag Me To Hell” get some recognition.
Wow I’m really liking these nominations. Love to see all the support for (500) Days of Summer. And a lot of support for Inglourious Basterds too. Christoph Waltz is nearly guaranteed an Oscar nomination, but I’m glad to see that Mélanie Laurent was nominated here too. She was fantastic and I hope she isn’t overlooked by the Globes and the Oscars. Also love that Up was given Best Film and Best Director nominations.
Of course they’re gonna recognized “drag me to hell”.. Sam Raimi is Michigan’s favorite son.. btw, Detroit film critics? That’s like saying British coal miners.. just weird
Detroit is not some backwoods hick town, you ignorant clod.
