Waltz will make a great villian in a future James Bond film.
Go Meryl!! Go Precious!! Go UP!!
It’s a travesty that Mariah Carey did not get recognition for Precious.
Let the Hurt Locker get its glory now; Avatar will prevail when it really counts, in March, at the Oscars.
I’m so glad that The Hurt Locker is getting some recognition. It totally deserves it. And Star Trek tying for best ensemble cast? That is awesome!
oh please mariah carey ?!! she has the same boring expression during the whole movie, now i would love to see the actress who plays precious teacher get a nom ,her performance was award-worthy…as usual i havent seen most of the films nominated so far on this list except for precious, star trek, district 9(great movie) and julie&julia, and yes i hope streep gets her oscar, coz when ur good ur good, and not many actors get such recognized consensus about their performances year in year out!
paula patton played the teacher in “precious”. and yes, the woman deserves some kind of recognition. although mariah’s perf. was commendable, to me this is more of a chance for her to show maybe she can act if given the right material. i don’t think anyone would even think of mentioning awards for her, but are happy it showed a little depth. as long as mo’nique wins the world will be a better place.
I haven’t seen THE COVE yet…my town never gets documentaries up on the big screen…a pity…but glad it received an award for Best Doc from The Boston Society of Film Critics. THE COVE is a powerful doc that everyone should see!
THE HURT LOCKER keeps racking up these critic awards…so it could possibly have multiple nominations come Oscar time. I truly hope so. Mo’Nique is a shoe-in to win the Oscar for Best Sup. Actress. And Chris Waltz is a shoe-in to win the Oscar for Best Sup. Actor although Ralph Fiennes should have one that category back then for SCHNIDLER’s LIST…Mr. Fiennes played a soulless Nazi soooooooo well.
Ooops…meant to say “although Ralph
Fiennes should have WON…” Sorry.
Pretty good list, though the Coen Brothers for Best Screenplay? “A Serious Man” is seriously onanistic blather and an excruciatingly tedious experience. The Coens obviously cashed in their post-Oscar cred to make that meandering muddle.
As much as I dislike awards that are given just because a certain gender or ethnic group seems “due,” if Kathryn Bigelow wins only because a woman is due to win director I’m all for it. She made a great film.
