The Hangover? Are you kidding me?
I’m with you, Sam. While I don’t think that comedies get enough respect and credit, The Hangover is nothing more than above average low-brow fare. The independent film “Humpday” was a much better film and funnier too.
The Hangover is by far the most overrated movie of the year. I seriously don’t get the love. The movie simply is not as clever or funny as everyone makes it out to be. I think I laughed once, maybe twice. Owen G. had it right: I Love You, Man is far superior.
Boo
I’m very happy that Tom Ford’s adaption of ‘A Single Man’ is getting praise.
“District 9″, please.
Thank you, however, for including “Coraline” and “The Messenger”. Both among the few best movies I’ve seen this year.
No Avatar?
The only movies that I’ve seen were Coraline and Up. Those were good movies. I want to see Precious. It looks good.
I haven’t heard of Sugar…
But I am happy for The Hangover and Coraline
No Sin Nombre? Granted, I haven’t seen it yet, but it was proclaimed the “Best Movie of 2009 So Far” by BOTH critics on At the Movies back in the summer.
I had to LOL at that one. I haven’t seen the movie, so I can’t comment. But I can’t take seriously the opinions of those two jokers who ran that show into the ground for more than a year. Ben Lyons is a total joke.
Like most of the movies on there but mine are and i know I will get alot of disagreemtns for best movies of 2009:
Invictus
The Hangover
Inglorious Basterds
Funny People
Watchmen
District 9
500 Days of Summer
Harry Potter and the half blood prince
Up
Star Trek
I’m not crazy about your entire list, but it is nice to see someone else list Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince as one of the best of the year. I really loved that movie. Definitely one of my favorites this year. And I really loved Michael Gambon in it too. Am I the only person who thinks his performance was worthy of at least some nominations (not necessarily an Oscar) this year?
I’m hoping Deathly Hallows can bring about some more serious awards recognition. If they do it right, it could be an Oscar contender.
Subtract Coraline, The Hangover, Up and Sugar and add Star Trek, 500 Days of Summer, District 9 and Inglorious Basterds…There, that’s better.
Coraline was so stupid and boring I can’t believe it made this list.
Coraline was so awesome and amazing I can totally see why it made the list.
What’s sugar?
