my problem is why aren’t there more roles written for anyone other than white people? there are MANY wonderful actors and actresses of other persuasions. why can’t we write for them?? c’mon hollywood, you can do it!!
I think its time the black only award shows are finished anyway…can you say racist?
Could it be that Sandra has adopted an all female black high school in New Orleans? Could it also be that SHE GAVE A DAMN GOOD PORTRAYAL??? I’m surprised that Quinton Aaron was NOT nom’d.
does any real actor/actress care about winning an naacp award? this reminds me of the people choice, essence and mt award shows. POINTLESS
Why wasn’t Nicole Beharie nominated for Best Actress in American Violet again???? She was amazing in the movie. I’m very confused.. smh
Kellyb, I think to get more vieweres, the awards, for the most part, reflect more mainstream fare
Does anyone understand the critera for Best Foreign Film? The only one I’ve seen is Rudo y Cursi, which did not have a single black person in it…just wondering.
I wonder what would happen if they had an awards show for just white people? Why can’t this be considered racism the other way?
I enjoyed the Blind Side, and even Sandra’s performance.
That being said, I could see how it could be perceived as a “white woman rescues the crack-kid” trope that normally doesn’t go down so well with NAACP types. The “image” portrayed of black communities in Memphis could be seen as not in line with “Image Awards” – -but what do I know.
The strength of The Blind Side is that it attempts to transcend racial dynamics to show the power of love and compassion (and a kick in the ass).
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw all the Fatty Boombas at the awards night. Obviously haven’t heard of Marilyn’s Plan for Weight Loss. Loved seeing Sandra Bullock win. She is gorgeous.
