    Hate hate hate!

Change the title. Jackie is teaching the kid kung fu for pete’s sake.

It doesn’t matter what the title is. The executives probably decided that people didn’t know the difference between kung fu and karate, so they went with karate to bank off the original. In any case, if it’s good, it’s good. The title won’t have an impact whatsoever.

Hopefully they have adaptations of “Sweep the Leg” and “Put him in a body bag!!! YEAAAH!”

I never trust the test screening results because just about everything tests well. I’ll withhold judgement until I see more.

Will just wants to do remakes/ UPTOWN SATURDAY NIGHT is his next project..this test audience probably came from Oprah’s book club, Tyler Perry’s extended family and La Choy food factories.

Why is it called “The Karate Kid” when Jackie Chan is Chinese, the story takes place in China, and the kid is being taught Kung Fu?

I don’t get it, but then again for most of America, it will not matter anyways.

I vow never to watch this. The original Karate Kid is a movie classics, it’s one of those legendary movies just like Wizard Of Oz which should never be touched.

how can they call it the karate kid its in china! he is being taught by a kung fu master! it should called the kung fu kid! make no sense to call it the karate kid! karate is Japanese! what the heck who’s the moron at sony isnt Sony a Japanese company? major blunder should of left karate kid alone its a classic sure the fights will be better but it will lack the feel and spirit of the original

we all know that this movie was filmed in china and it is the art of kung fu that this film is based around.not karate, which is japanese. just glad it wasn’t called “the tae kwon do kid”. of course that has a nice ring to it.

Well, as Mr. Miyagi explained in the first movie, “Karate come from China, sixteenth century, called te, “hand.” Hundred year later, Miyagi ancestor bring to Okinawa, call *kara*-te, “empty hand.” So calling the film “Karate Kid” isn’t that far off.

First of all — the remake will be garbage. Chan is great — don’t mind Smith’s son Jaden — but again, this movie should have no remake period. It was on the other night, my nine year old watched it and loved every minute of it. We’re out looking for the DVD now. The original holds up and just doesn’t call for a face lift. And — as already noted — Karate Kid in China… lame to say the least. To point to Hitch as the end all be all of early audience response tests is a joke too. Hitch was crap. I have to believe Sony has a couple bucks invested in this review because the new and improved Karate Kid will be an utter disaster. And yes — this is more than a guess — it is FACT. I am Mr. Knowitall.
