Inglourious Basterds was the big winner at the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, winning the Best Cast and Best Supporting Actor trophies. Jeff Bridges and Mo’Nique continued their winning streaks, while Sandra Bullock bested Meryl Streep for Best Actress. With Oscar frontrunner Avatar completely absent from the SAG nominations, Basterds certainly got the biggest boost of the night after failing to make the Best Film cut at the BAFTA nominations earlier this week. But the seismic change of the evening is defnitely in the Best Actress race, where Streep, who’s been the favorite for months, is now finding herself playing catch-up to Bullock. I remember watching The Blind Side a few weeks before it opened and thinking, She’s a shoo-in…for a Golden Globe nomination. Now she’s created the most exciting major-category Oscar race of the year. On the TV side, most of the Globe winners (Glee, Mad Men, Kevin Bacon, Drew Barrymore, Julianna Margulies, Michael C. Hall, and Alec Baldwin) repeated tonight. Here’s the complete winners’ list.

no live blog
indeed
/:) missing the live dramedy of it all!
…but then the SAG awards are classier and less cheesy than the GGs, whose live feed was sad
and stunk of ‘F-lister-ness’ in the extreme ( just as a dickclarkproduction would)
YAY for Glee and 30 Rock!
Seconded!
As much as I love the Glee cast (they make me not worry about the flaws of what is an innovative show) I think the Modern Family cast was robbed. The Glee cast would’ve been my 2nd choice. I’m not sad they won but Modern Family deserves more awards love than it’s getting IMO.
I second that.
i could not have said it better myself
I think so too. Every member of the Modern Family cast is perfect. I haven’t laughed at a show so much in years.
i love glee, but i agree!!!
completely agree. happy for glee, but modern family is brilliant
Totally agree!
I feel your pain i wished modern family had won also. But i think next year will be there turn .
Couldn’t agree more.
Definitely agree. Modern Family is a really well written show with a great cast.
Christoph Waltz wins again, who didn’t see that coming?
That’s because he was crazy good in Inglorious Basterds.
Or because voters are easily duped by one-dimensional villain performances…year after year after year.
Trent you are crazy. There was nothing one-dimensional about that performance. He went from charming to funny to chilling to downright scary scene after scene. He deserves all the accolades he gets for that movie!
Besides Tina Fey, exactly the same as Globes. No surprises yet.
As much as I love 30 Rock, I think this season has been kind of a letdown. I wish Modern Family would get more love. That is a completely brilliant show that entertains nonstop.
So glad Michael C. Hall is finally getting the praise he deserves. Sadly, I’m not sure all this recognition comes from the fact that he’s doing great work with a fabolous character, and not because he has cancer and is getting the ‘pity vote’.
@Anne, I thought he was diagnosed after the final ballots were due at the globes, not sure about SAG though.
Yeah, I hope that’s not it. He was better then ever this season, and I hope he wins the Emmy he so deserves.
There’s no way. He didn’t even go public with his diagnosis until right before the Globes.
I can’t believe they thought Stana Katic was Mischa Barton! At least Stana looked gorgeous!
Honestly when I saw her I thought “Wow Mischa Barton is looking much better than usual” so I can see where they made the mistake.
God I hope I’m as feisty as Betty White when I’m 88.
Betty White just gave the best award speech ever!
The tribute to Betty White was touching, funny and a true testament to the longevity of her career, and the talent she holds. Loved her montage…but it left out her playing beer pong with Jimmy Fallon…well, maybe that wasn’t a highlight. Kudos to Cuba Gooding Jr for being her assistant
Really? This post isn’t even linked anywhere on the main page – obviously EW thinks that Sundance is more important than the SAG awards.
I found it there and with a photo.
as always betty white is fierce!!! she will ALWAYS be, until the end of time, my favorite comedic actress.
Geez. Talk about predictable.
And the supporting awards become quintuple-bolt locked.
Lols. Well said.
it’s just my opinion, but if anyone deserves the accolades this award season it is mo’nique. her performance was one of the best performances i have ever witnessed. i’m very happy for her.
Please pull an upset and win Carey Mulligan.
Thanks, but I’m not sure what I’d DO with Carey Milligan.
