Sundance: Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams show you what acting is all about in the wrenching 'Blue Valentine'

No movie I’ve seen at Sundance this year conjures the possibilities — or the current, gloom-and-doom marketplace environment — of independent film more powerfully than Read the full post.

I know what you’re saying. There isn’t a huge audience for realistic, wrenching movies like this, but I love them. Big emotional, depressing stuff is my favorite. I love getting into the story, and feeling it. I love the realism. I’m really excited for it.

I agree that the acting was outstanding, and even uncomfortable in how fully they involved us in Their lives.Williams and Gosling, as usual, are superb. I have never seen a poor performance from either, and this is no exception. Point perfect in nailing every scene, thought emotion. I cringed when her acting hit too close to MY history – I defy any woman to now have ever felt how Michelle acted.

Michelle Williams was robbed of an oscar for ‘brokeback mountain’ she’s a very talented actress. Ryan Gosling is so slouch either..

I do! I read about the premise about a month ago and I was praying it did well at Sundance… i just hope I don’t have to wait too long to see it

Can’t wait to see it. I love both actors and am thrilled to see them doing such good work.

I would go see this film. I hope Fox Searchlights picks it up. They know how to distribute independent films a la Slumdog Millionaire.

i really hope this gets distribution! i was watching the believer the other night, and was once again struck by what a powerful actor ryan gosling is. he was nineteen/twenty when they made that, and you believed every moment. from the beginning, a consistent best actor…and michelle williams is breathtaking as well.

Can’t wait to see Ryan Gosling in a movie again.!! What happened to “All Good Things” with Ryan and Kirsten Dunst? It was suppose to be in threaters ages ago??

I cannot wait to see this. I love Ryan Gosling, and I think Michelle is absolutely incredible. I hope to see them both receive more acclaim as the years go by.

I don’t rate Michelle Williams as a first rate actress, so the only reason I will go to see this film is Ryan Gosling, who is first rate imo.

  • Ryan and Michelle

This seems like it might be a very good movie.
Ryan Gosling just might be ” the one ” in real life
for Michelle Williams. Her relationship with
Heath Ledger was not meant to be. I am
disappointed in Michelle Williams for taking
advantage of Heath Ledger on the set of
Brokeback Mountain and pushing for a
relationship that never should have started or
continued. Michelle was not Heath Ledger’s
soulmate or ” true love.” This movie Blue Valentine
proves that Ryan Gosling is the one she should
have been in a real relationship with. Ryan seems
to have true feelings for Michelle and not just acting
like he does. Heath Ledger was only acting for
Michelle on screen and off screen. Anything “nice”
Heath said about Michelle was what he knew she
wanted him to say in front of the public.
Heath Ledger was not happy with her.
Ryan Gosling is not obligated to Michelle as Heath Ledger was put in the position to be.
Ryan Gosling is making a choice to be around her.
Maybe Michelle should be with Ryan Gosling in
    real life.
