What the hell is with this movie. Its transformers with Smurfs people.
I really don’t get it. It’s just an ok movie that looks good, so I give props to the new technology but I’m shocked on how much it is making.
Avatar will remain number one at the box office until “the Wolfman” and “Valentines Day” open. They will be the number 1 and 2 movies that weekend since it is a holiday weekend and Valentines Day that weekend and V Day will be the date movie couples go to. Avatar will then settle for 3rd.
honestly with people the way they are now i dont think they will beat avatar and a dam shame to cus they look very good too.
I think Wolfman or Valentine’s Day will be #1, and whichever one isn’t will be #2. Percy Jackson and Avatar will duke it out for #3. I wouldn’t underestimate PJ, especially with kids on a holiday weekend. And The Wolfman’s R rating could damper it a little bit.
you know i love the movie avatar it really was a great and awsome movie. you know it is awsome that something finaly is putting and end to titanic, thank god. but really it is awsome that there are a lot of fans and if you love it. then more power to you. but when is the time to say enough with all this talk about it, you know it will be over in time and like the treky thing it will be become another fad and my biggest complaint about it is that if you read the news and articles be written about this movie, people are literaly throwing away there lives for this movie and some need to get lives from this movie. you know people are so insane about this movie they want to kill them selves. really i think that this really needs to blow over cuz if i were the directer or any of the actors and found out that i made a movie that people are becoming suicidaul because of it i would hate my self. and would people stop tell stephen lang that you hate him. yea he is the bad guy in avatar but IT IS JUST A $#@!$^% movie. really there people out there who really need to get lives and get out of there mothers basement. cuz dam!!!
…what?
Did you forget to take your medication?
the crazy part about this is watch it happen all over again when Avatar is released on dvd and blu ray which I’m sure Cameron is prepping. From a strategical stand point I know wouldn’t hold off too long on a world wide smash but perhaps I’m just looking at the money lol
Mel Gibson is a REAL man. He eats at Greek restaurants and loves our food.
I just love reading these comments from people who are “shocked” and can’t believe how much Avatar is making. They defend it so loyally by saying how it is destroying other movies’ box office takes. But the fact of the matter is, and what a lot of people are either failing to realize or just plain looking over, is that more than 80% of Avatar’s grosses have come from 3-D sales. Have all of you actually seen how much more a 3-D ticket costs? Its insane! Add all that extra money up and that is where the continued success is coming from. They say that nobody is making people pay extra and see it in 3-D but if you don’t see it in 3-D, it would look pretty awful so why not? Titanic didn’t have the luxury of 3-D ticket prices being almost double the regular price. It just stayed in theaters for 6 months and had extremely long legs. If you really stop and look at how FAST Avatar has made this much money, the only logical explaination is 3-D ticket sales, not the popularity of the movie. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen Avatar and really enjoyed it but to even compare it to other movies’ box office performances is just plain silly. It should have an asterisk next to it or be in a completely different category of ranking, like highest 3-d movie gross of all time. Its kinda like baseball records. Avatar’s grosses are like a baseball players stats on steroids. It had extra help with 3-D sales, or “performance enhancing drugs” for a baseball player to hit more home runs or something. Movies like Titanic didn’t have that kind of help. They did it the old fashioned way. Staying Power. If Titanic was Hank Aaron, then Avatar is Barry Bonds, all juiced up on steroids(3-D sales). The amount of money is pretty impressive, but not even close to doing it all on regular ticket prices.
hmmm… and what your failing to realize that even after you have broken it down, it STILL has made that much money. your steroid theory is ridiculously flawed because those are illegal and you can get your record taken away along with pretty much your whole career. in this case this movie has proven that if you can do it right in 3D and make it entertaining, it will pay off. and AVATARs case, it has raped incredibly. screw all thias talk about inflation. remember, we as people are the ones forking it over and giving it these records.
Yep, the 3D is inflating the figures to an extent.
But you’re overlooking the fact that people are going back to this film time and time again and are willingly paying those prices to see it.
It did not make $2 Billion just by people paying to see it once – no matter how much higher prices are. The public are going back, again and again and again.
you do know that lots of movies have come out in 3D yet none of them have done this well. Ex. G-Force ( Really bad!) My bloody Valintine ( Gross) so cut the whole drug thing if a movie makes money it is because it is good, not because people want to see a 3D movie. Most people would rather see it in normal because it is cheaper! So there!
Just wondering but how long did it take you to type all of that anyways? What is it? An essay?
Are you drunk?
Avatar shouldn’t count, take out the 3-D money and let’s see what the real box office is.
Why? If people are willing to pay premium prices for it, why shouldn’t it count? If people didn’t want to pay to see it in 3D, it wouldn’t be making so much of its money from 3D. It’s supply and demand on a basic knuckle-dragging level. What’s so hard to grasp about it?
It’s made for 3-D who would see it any other way.
Im sick of it. inflation blah blah.. you just cant stand its succes lossers. you dont like it so watch another movie. no biggi AND STOP #### save your stupid comments to yourself. its a great movie. I like it so much. this is cinema.
I am the only one who has absolutely zero interest in seeing this movie?
I think most people felt that way at first. After you see it, then you get it.
Am not going to see Avatar at all, EVER. I initially had no interest in seeing, now I want to be one of the few people who has NOT seen it, and will LOL at the look on people’s faces when I say haven’t seen it. To a much, much smaller extent, that has been happenning to me for years when I admit to never, ever having seen Rocky Horror Picture Show. Love to be on the outside LOL.
Wow, look how anti=establishment and badass you are. We’re all extremely impressed. *rolls eyes*
Not seeing Avatar doesn’t make you “cool,” any more than seeing it makes anyone “cool.” It’s kind of sad that you invest so much of your image and self-worth in what films you do or don’t see.
@bagabou: you’re looser you just wanna people pay attention to you. a better way you can kill your self. go get a life.
Wow, it was AMAZING!
I love avatar
