OK I agree that it is incredible that Abbie Cornish didn’t get a nomination, with that I agree. I couldn’t disagree more about Meryl Streep, however, she gets nominated because she is fantastic. I am never less than blown away by her performances.
Carey Mulligan really should win the Oscar for best actress. She is talented beyond her years. She is featured on girlcrushoftheday. http://girlcrushoftheday.blogspot.com/2010/01/carey-mulligan.html
I agree with Laura. Streep was great in that role. I still think Cornish was better and I cant help wondering if a popular or well known actress had played that role that well she would have been nominated for sure
Avatar-five awards(Best pic,visuals,sound,cinematography,sound editing)
It is sad that there are only so many awards to go around and these did not make it into Oscar contention. I haven’t seen all three, but I really enjoyed 500 Day s of Summer. Even without an Oscar nomination, people will probably still watch it a few years from now.
“Where the wild things are” is for me the single BEST PICTURE last year PERIODE! Nominate or not!…
The fact that these three worthy films got so little Academy love just shows you how unimportant ultimately the Oscars are. The films still remain wonderful films that will be loved by others who see them in the future.
Bright Star was the most romantic visually stunning film I have seen in a while. It should have been nominated for best picture as well as acting nominations for the two leads Abbie Cornish and Ben Whishaw.
Elizabeth I think the film needs to be seen to be appreciated and unfortunately not enough voters saw it
500 Days Of Summer: I liked this movie, and was very suprised that it didn’t get at least an Original Screenplay nomination.
Where the Wild Things Are: My favorite movie of the year,I was gutted when it didn’t receive a single nomination.
Bright Star: This movie got the nomination where it deserved, Costume Design, which was simply beautiful. But I found the movie a complete snoozefest. While Cornish was good I couldn’t stand Wishaw.
