Shutter Island is exceptional filmmaking! Having read the book, I was surprised how powerful the ending was even though I knew what was coming. Leo gave an excellent performance.

I can’t wait to see Shutter Island. It’s only playing here on one screen and it has been sold out since Friday night. Got to the theater an hour in advance and still no ticket. Went to see John Travolta movie, From Paris With Love. OMG, what a dumb, dumb, dumb film. But there were still a few good action scenes, so not the total waste.

Saw the movie and even though I kinda could tell what was going on the whole time, the way the story unfolded and the ending was fantastic! Pay close attention to the last line that DiCaprio says and the look he gives Ruffalo at the very end! AWESOME MOMENT!

One of the best movies I have seen in a long time. A superb performance by Leonardo DiCaprio. No one could have played it better. He’s fantastic.

The plot is complex and would probably not appeal to the average 20-something looking to be entertained.

Why’s all the brothers playing orderlies, man? Black people can’t be crazy, Martin Scorcese? Damn racist. Jamal is angry about this one for sure.

I’m seeing it Sunday, hopefully. I read the book, so I know what happens. And if it stays true to the ending in the book, the only way you’d think the ending was at all ambiguous is if you didn’t pay attention.
And DiCaprio IS an extremely talented actor. People need to realize that his teen idol phase ended like a decade ago and he’s made a ton of good, adult films and already had an Oscar nomination years before he was ever in Titanic. He was a respected, established actor before teen girls started going nuts over him in Titanic (and Titanic wasn’t exactly tween tripe, now was it). Please don’t lump him in the same category as guys like Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson.

I agree. DiCaprio is one of the best actors of his generation. I’m still waiting for him to win an Oscar. It’s kind of funny that people went nuts for him in Titanic. He gave a decent performance, but I think it’s my least favorite performance of his (aside from Growing Pains, lol).
As for Shutter Island, I didn’t read the book. But I just saw the film and I really enjoyed it. Scorsese does a great job at creating an ominous atmosphere. DiCaprio gives another great performance, as do Ben Kingsley, Mark Ruffalo, and Michelle Williams. And the ending certainly is not ambiguous at all. It’s very clear. One must really not be paying attention at all to not understand what is happening. I sort of saw the big reveal coming, but it wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. I guess you could say it was a little bit more than I thought it would be (if that makes any sense), so there was still an element of surprise that came along with it, which made it quite enjoyable.

I think SHUTTER ISLAND was amazing. I can’t stop thinking about. I think it will be a substantial hit that will be remembered next year come awards time, receiving noms for pic, DiCaprio, Williams, Kingsley — to me WAY better than Silence of the Lambs or Sixth Sense.

Sounds like you’re a drug dealer, bro!

The movie was good but by no means scary as the trailer made it appear. It is more of a wait for the dvd kind of flick.

Good but far from great… Got alittle bogged down in the middle. Not as much unnerving tension as I expected. Without the storm the middle hour would have been boring. Saw the ending a mile away just could not have guessed how it came to be though. Great last line.

the last line is memorable in all time cinema
