Interesting that RP gets slammed on this site for not developing a range, but J. Baruchel who has played the same flustered manchild in everything he has ever done is celebrated. He’s similar to Michael Cera – same person everytime out.

Rob’s performance in RM didn’t resemble Edward. One character is repressed and another is lashing out at the world. I can understand the plot criticism, but their not the same characters at all.

Lisa, I think fans of the movie Remember Me are frustrated with your review of the movie because you kept mentioning Edward Cullen or Twilight over and over again in your review. The movie stands on it’s own, there was no need for the continuing Twilight mentions.

I enjoyed reading Owen Gleiberman’s response to all the vitriol aimed at Twilight and Kristen Stewart a few weeks back, there were some interesting ideas about Twilight representing a shift in the market. Lisa just seems to want to encourage the bashing, bait Twilight fans, and snark away at a 23-year old. Putting Rob in a group with Leo, Johnny and Matt at this stage of his career so the haters can take another swing at him? Basically you’re just clubbing a baby seal in exchange for page hits.

        Well said, totally agree!
And extra points for your awesome ‘name’. :)

With that uni-brow……seriously this is the guy that girls think is hot? I mean I can see Pitt, Clooney etc.. but man i watched 10 minutes of the first Twilight and was laughing within 30 seconds. That part where he runs up the mountain LMFAO. The mountain climbing guy on The Price is Right looks more believable

I insist Pitt was hot when young, now … no.

I thought Remember Me was incredibly slow and boring, full of cliches, mediocre at best in regards to acting, and poorly written. The leads had no chemistry together and the ending was tacky. If RP wants to make a name for himself outside of Twilight, this movie certainly wasn’t a good choice in accomplishing that goal.

I respectfully disagree. In an industry that is so focused on the next superhero/special effects/3D blockbuster, I thought RM was refreshing and different. Not saying that it was great or Oscar worthy, but cliche, no. Everything is so mass produced in Hollywood right now. All of the rom coms are the same, all of the action movies are the same, sequels, super hero movies, and remakes galore. RM was something different and I quite enjoyed the change of pace even though it was depressing and sad to watch. I also disagree that it was slow and boring. I thought the storyline was built well, even if the direction and editing were choppy at times. It was comedic where it needed to be and romantic enough to have you feel for the characters appropriately.

Whether Robert belongs with the other actors or not will be evident when he reaches their age. I think he is damn good for a 23 year old young man. I would love to know the ages of all these haters.

  • Kathye

JD is 47, MD is 40, LD is 36. RP is 23 – give the guy a chance – let’s see where he is in say 13 – 24 years from now and then we can judge. He has a pretty good start, I’d say.

    • karin

You are right. He is going well.

  • Lisa

    Rob of course, TWICE! :)

Rob, all the way! Remember Me is absolutely fantastic! Go. See. This. Movie!

  • Jenniffer

Robert Pattinson for sure I love all of his work!!!!!!

I actually saw RM..I thought it was a heartwrenching story and Rpattz played the lead Character very well indeed..I dont know where such harsh critisism is coming from..whether you like the ending or not(critics)Robert Pattinson acting shouldnt even be in question..he was great..why all the critisism?..maybe to tame some of the mania associated with him?..Ive never seen anything like it nor have I seen such harsh reviews for one little movie..I suggest everyone see the movie..then give your unbiased opinion..i’m telling you..RP does a wonderful job and the movie has soulful meaning..the ending my be offensive to some..buts its done tastefully…if that type of thing can be tasteful..and just so you know..the majority of the critics bashed the ending..not RP..and also just so you know JD didnt get all good reviews for his portrayal of the mad hatter either..JS

      I completely agree.

  • amoca

LOL I wasn’t serious about the ages but you are all kids to me at 62.

I thnk the story teling and the story itself, referring to ‘Remember Me’ were well executed. Admit it or not a lot of people decided to not watch it because Robert Pattinson was the leading role in it. They decided that the ‘Twilight’ guy can’t possibly do anything else. Well, these people are wrong and if they would give THE STORY a chance, they would know this to be true. Yes, he’s no Damon or Depp but no one said he was as big as draw as those two whom, might I add have taken years to attain crediblity. Have we forgotten “Stuck On You”? or “Benny and June”? If we’re judging the actor it’s an unfair race. If we’re judging the material they are on a league of their own. Evenly matched.

I think each actor is very talented. Why do we need to pit them against each other? Why? I am a Robert Pattinson fan, Johnny Depp fan and a Matt Damon fan. I think each actor is courageous to pick films that challenge them to grow as actors. Why do we need to tear them apart? Does it make you feel better to bash an actor for stretching their talent? If so, get a life.

  • Thia

Pattinson is still quite early in his career and much younger than the others, you can’t compare in fairness to him. Time will tell. And the media oversaturation isn’t his fault, on the contrary he tries to stay on the DL and keep his private life private – good for him. I feel bad for the kid – Twilight gave him fame and fortune, but is a bit of an albatross he now has to overcome. I’d like to see him in a good supporting role with a top director and good script before making long term pronuncements. I saw RM and actually thought he was quite good in it, better than expected. Was terrific with the girl playing his little sister in particular. I think he’s handled himself well in the face of insanity, and seems like a breath of fresh air – not a PR robot type.

exactly what I was thinking, I agree with everything you said! I said I didn’t want to read the posts and I just happened to catch yours as it was posted before mine and we made the same point.

    • Kathye

Rob himself said that if it were not for his Twilight fame – they probably wouldn’t have gotten to money to make the movie. Why bash Twilight – obviously many people love it and believe me they are not just young tweens and teens. On another note, all these actors have made movies that I haven’t so much cared for. So what – enjoy the ones you like, it’s only entertainment.

  • beebeeboo

I’m not even going to read the comments because I know they’ll just make me mad with all the RPattz bashing but I’m going to give my 2 cents anyway. And I have to say don’t make me choose- I love them all for very different reasons and they are all very different actors and to me there’s no use in comparing because of that reason. Also there’s the fact that Johnny, Matt and Leo have years on Rob- in age and in working experience so they’ve had more time to develop and learn and become what they are today but he’ll get there I have no doubt.
