Why hasn’t Light of Day been released in DVD? Perhaps the new Runaways will light a fire under somebody to get it done.
I’ve seen ‘Light of Day’ and I can’t say much for Joan Jett’s performance but Michael J. Fox particularly impressed me in this film. For one I didn’t know he could sing and two, he doesn’t seem to rely on his charm like he did in Family Ties and a few of his other films (Back to the Future not included). I do quite like the film, however.
Actually watched Foxes even before I knew who Cherie Currie was- I thought Annie was a badass and Cherie did a great job. I was around the same age so could relate to the angst.
Too bad Adrian Lyne didn’t direct The Runaways-there are more connections to his debut in it-Cherie,Kristin Stewart(played Foxes Jodie’s kid in Panic Room)Robert Romanus (Foster’s ex boyfriend in Foxes Has a small part in Runaways)and The fact Foxes turns 30 shortly.
i love “foxes” and after seeing “the runaways” yesterday, i didn’t think fanning had the grit or balls that currie had (neither did stewart for that matter). there was no swagger, no real f-u attitude that the runaways personafide. it wasn’t a bad movie and they did a decent job but those girls didn’t have the nuts to go a great movie.
ugh, personified! it’s like i made a whole new spelling.
Over the Edge came out in 79…not 78.
I own Foxes on DVD. It reminds of the 70′s version of Less Than Zero. The whole self-destructive, hedonistic vibe is present in both. Foxes was a pretty good movie. Liked it a lot. Light of Day was good, but for me it was an acquired taste. Gena Rowlands made it work for me.
Cherie Currie had another meaty role in 1983′s “Wavelength”, an indie sci-fi drama..also parts in “Parasite”, “Twilight Zone-The Movie” and “Rosebud Beach Hotel”, so it’s wrong to say she only had one acting gig and disappeared. Owen is correct when he says she works on instinct however, and all her performances are extremely natural and ingratiating. That said, Jodie Foster was the (deliberate) stand-out in “Foxes”, along with Sally Kellerman as her pushover mom, and received most (if not all) the critical acclaim in 1980.
if you notice in the movie Foxes Cheri Curry’s character’s cherry tattoo changes from the right side to the left side.
