I totally agree with you. DiCaprio is one of the best actors working today. His detractors are either jealous or don’t know what they are talking about. He is not trying to be the “new DeNiro.” (In fact, that label should be used for Sean Penn or Edward Norton who “overbrood”). DiCaprio has his own style. He can express more than with his eyes than most actors can with a script and great director. He certainly has no “ruined” Scorsese’s films. He was brillant in “The Aviator” and a revelation in “The Departed,” and he delivered in “Shutter Island” a performance that should have won him an Oscar if Paramont hadn’t decided to release the film in February, instead of last October as planned.
