I’m more interested in Rachel than Darren. Rachel is not only perfect casting but she’s a great actress.
The Fountain ran dry for me too….very dry….but hey I’m a big fan of the other work….so 3 outta 4 puts me in the “Yay” category!!
The book “Assasination of a President” by William Manchester chronicles these 4 days and will likely be much of what this screenplay is based on. So while it is a great idea for a film, its not like factual accounts of Jackie’s movements and decisions in those days don’t exist.
don’t think so–the kennedy family owns the copyright and have buried the book. It has not seen the light of day in over 40 years.
The book is “The Death of a President.” It’s not like copies of the book don’t exist. One sits on my library bookcase. Hello?!
I’m a fan of Rachels work for sure but I think people get to IMAGE crazy in biopics. It’s not important that the person looks like the part they are playing more so that they can embody the qualities that made that person who they are. This is why Angela Basset was incredible as Tina Turner despite not looking like her. But overall I really am looking for to this movie. I am a big fan of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis.
I would have loved to see Jeanne Tripplehorne in this part. Her all too brief role as Jackie in HBO’s Grey Gardens just left me wanting more!
she was great but too old for the part. jackie was in her early thirties (32 or 33?)when she was widowed. Weiz though is 40.
She was 34.
actually Angelina Jolie could have played this role with amazing grace.
Jeanne Tripplehorne is not half the actress Rachel Weisz is and Angelina Jolie would be miscast to the point of it being a joke. While Rachel Weisz is 40, she looks like she could be in her late 20′s. Weisz is the best choice for the role.
FirstLiam Neeson playing Lincoln and then Weisz playing Jackie Kennedy… Why do they keep picking Europeans to play American icons? It seems like European actors are always gunning for those roles.
This would be a problem if those actors were not right for those parts, but turns out, they are the best. Americans were in an uproar over Vivian Leigh being cast as Scarlett O’Hara in “Gone With the Wind”, but had anyone else been cast, it would NOT have been the same movie. And a lot of British folks were disappointed that an American was cast as Bridget Jones, but that also turned out rather well.
Oh my God! Yes! This is perfect! I always thought Weisz looks like Jackie. I even once thought “Hmmm… I wish there was a movie about Jackie. She would be the right person to play her.”
I can’t wait!
she’s certainly got the eyes.
I’ve seen discontent expressed over the fact that such a role is played by a british actress and not an american. Well, I for one welcome our new british overlords.
Although I guess technically they’d be our “old” overlords.
I don’t know – everyone knows this and it has been shown in so many, many mini-series on TV, like five or six already. Nobody has seen her later life with Onassis and when she worked or even how the assassination changed her life later – forever really
Some people have reservations since Rachel is British, but I think this a PERFECT choice. She proven she can do a spot-one American accent and she’s one of the most talented (and often under-rated) actresses around. I’m super excited with this selection and cannot wait to see the film!
Im getting tired of the English already. Are you kidding me? A brit playing Jackie Kennedy??? Can you imagine casting an American as Princess Diane. The Brits would have a heart attack. They really couldnt find one American who could play the role of Jackie Kennedy? Jennifer Connelly anyone? I think she would have been amazing.
I think she will be great as Jacqueline. Better than Katie Holmes as her in that much disputed History Channel Miniseries. Can’t wait to see how she does.
I saw “the kennedys”..though it was turned away by the history channel and found a home on ReelzChannel..i thought it was great! like every other historic series, theres always write and wrong facts! I thought that katie holmes performance was one of the best ive seen from her and she has been in many big films. But i also think that rachel weiz is going to be amazing as jackie O!!! I hope this film is a go because i would love to see how she takes on this amazing role!!!
sorry for misspelling “right”
