EW.com has confirmed that Louis Leterrier will not lead Sam Worthington’s Perseus on another adventure in Clash of the Titans II. Deadline.com first reported the news last night. The French director who has tirelessly worked on big-scale productions for the past decade with films like Hulk and the Transporter franchise is taking a break, but will remain an executive producer on the sequel, which sources say Warner Bros. is fast-tracking for a 2012 release.
Worthington is on board to lead another adventure in a story that’s currently being created by Warner Bros. wunderkind Greg Berlanti. Berlanti just directed the upcoming Life as We Know It for the studio in addition to scripting Green Lantern, which is currently shooting with Ryan Reynolds. Clash, which cost around $120 million to produce, has now grossed close to $400 million worldwide.
As for who will direct the second installment of Clash, it will likely be someone with an international flair. The movie will probably shoot in Spain or the U.K., like the first one, and an international director would make the experience that much easier.

Great… is it going to be Clash of the Titans II: Even Suckier Then the First?
ZING!
I read a great article that they edited the sh*t out of story and made huge changes. I wish I had seen THAT movie, not the crapfest I saw on screen.
Well it could hardly have been worse then the finished product. Maybe the original actually had Perseus’s character have some development and maybe wind up with the girl from the myth instead of his great great grandmother
I don’t think this movie needed a sequel, and it certainly hasn’t seemed to have performed well enough for one.
yea $400,000,000 is terrible.
They wouldn’t even talk sequel unless it did make enough money. wish they would work on sequels that people actually want to see like Wanted 2 but are being held up because Jolie didn’t want to do the 2nd one, but given the storyline there are a lot of name actresses who can take her place
Clearly it’s going to have one. WB has enough money to produce it and they’re pretty much the King of sequels.
I can see someone like Wolfgang Petersen directing Clash 2.
The sequel needs a director and the first one still needs a script.
My thoughts exactly!
Well if Twilight can get Bill Condon, Clash of the Titans should be able to get Alfred Hitchcock or Jesus.
Brilliant. You win.
Is this one going to actually be filmed in 3D or retrofitted after filming is over?
Clash of the Titans II: Clash Harder
Clash of the Titans II: Electric Boogaloo.
lol deadline made light of this weeks ago, but i’d like to reiterate how ew, the hollywood reporter and variety tend to get their stories from deadline and sometimes not even give them credit(not on this occassion though)…its just interesting that despite the vast resrouces sites like ew has over deadline hollywood, they tend to get a lot of material from them…
Why do we need a second one? The first one was worse than Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Because Clash 2 made over 389 million worldwide and it just came out this month. It’s production budget was 125 million, so of course there’s going to be a sequel.
*Clash 1*
Clash of The Titans II: The Squeakquel
how about INSTEAD of a sequel they release the Directors cut of the film…you know the version that WASN’T screwed up by the studios trying to “Fix it”
My thoughts exactly!
And yes I agree Peter Jackson should direct the next one.
Clash of the titans would have been better had it been given to director such as peter jackson, and if WB didnt insist on making it 3-D when it’s not actually shot on 3-D. greek myth is a very good subject for a movie, it just so happened that it wasnt well developed in clash 1 & letterrier isnt exactly the right one to do this film. Yes,i suggest get Peter Jackson for the sequel!
A sequel? They couldn’t even manage to make the first one good. If they had actually followed the original myth, there would have been a great story to tell and to see on film; our modern theatre. The Greeks had already made a wonderful story and instead of following something that’s been good for centuries, this new movie took its own path and made a good story poor. The Greeks had a great story, why ruin what’s been good for centuries? I know I’m being redundant, but really, all we needed to do was paint the picture to the idea that’s inspired other stories years and years after words! It was a play, after all! Apparently we can follow more closely to Shakespeare’s plays (Who debatably was the artist behind such legendary plays) than we can a Greek legend as old as time.
I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY SO MANY DIDN’T THINK CLASH IS NOT WORTHY OF A SEQUEL….
