In what is a surprise to absolutely no one, Tyler Perry’s longtime studio home Lionsgate announced today that it has acquired the multi-hyphenate’s next movie, Madea’s Big Happy Family. The movie marks the 11th title to come from Perry. The actor/director/producer/writer will reprise his role as Madea in the film adaptation of his new stage play, Madea’s Happy Family. The studio will release the film on Easter weekend April 22, 2011.
Perry’s 10th film For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf will begin principal photography on June 1 in Atlanta. Perry is adapting the Obie Award-winning play by Ntozake Shange. The movie stars Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Jurnee Smollett, Kimberly Elise, Kerry Washington, Loretta Devine, Anika Noni Rose and Macy Gray. Lionsgate will bow the film on January 14, 2011. Perry’s movies have grossed $450 million domestically.

Tyler Perry should combine the two movies into one: “For Those Who Have Considered Suicide When Madea Is Enuf”.
Just saw Tyler Perry’s latest, “Why Did I Get Married Too?” and enjoyed the movie and was impressed with Janet’s performance. Couldn’t help thinking that those deep dark emotional places she went to in the movie must have been very difficult and chathartic at the same time, concidering the scenes were filmed not long after her brothers death.
I Can’t Wait! I Love Youh Tyler Perry.(:
unfortunately, she received the call while on set. She broke 3 golf clubs during that scene!!!
Hello Mr. Perry! Linda here!
I never blog, but I felt that I had to this time. I really loved Madea’s Happy Family. I could relate very well , due to our son’s death 6 years ago. The ending with the new songsters was absolutely enjoyable. You are truely a genious/visionary.
So no that I have brown-nosed, I have a question. My husband and I have purchased a home in Arizona and we intend to move there eventually. We both have good jobs here, but will need jobs there, do you have any connections? Oh! we also saw why did I get married , one & too. We loved that as well.
Also, since we will be moving to AZ it’s time for you to get the few of us together to see one of your creations. Thank you in advance.
