Hmm.
I’m just hearing about this X-men first class movie and I’ve read a few of the posts here.
A few comments:
The FIRST class (Cyclops, Marvel girl (jean Grey), Beast, Iceman, and Angel) was fractured over the course of 3 movies that, although I thought the first one was fair, have warped the origins of the mutants as a whole. No X-men recognized Angel as an original member? They killed Xavier and Scott Summers? Iceman wasn’t acknowledged as an original member either??
I don’t know about all the political, behind the scenes, director vs. writer issues that have helped produce movies that have incorrectly portrayed the stories that had more substance than most can see at first glance. What I do know is that: Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Storm, Banshee, Thunderbird and others are not part of the fist class. Kitty and Rogue aren’t either. A friend of mine once said that the X-men will have a long streak of bad movies, like Batman, before we get anything respectable. I’m inclined to agree.
