Patrick Dempsey confirmed for 'Transformers 3'

Paramount Pictures confirmed today that Grey’s Anatomy hottie Patrick Dempsey has been cast in Michael Bay’s third installment of the Transformers franchise. The plot of the third film is being kept under wraps but we have learned that Dempsey will play Megan Fox’s boss in a role that is “significant to the plot.” The movie begins filming this month around the U.S. and in Africa, Moscow and China.

The last two Transformers movies have grossed over $1.5 billion worldwide. Paramount Pictures will bow Transformers 3 next summer.

Well so much for that movie having any quality aspects to it.

    • McDreamydefender

Like it was so amazing to begin with…

      • Emma

I know everyone trashes Bay but I liked both movies. They were very enjoyable.

      • Keno

I just found out who the final cylon is – holy frak!

      • ElCharlito

AGREED!! What a bunch of CGI garbage…

      • ElChalito2

        Please, no trolling you guys!

      • Anoop Desaad

Please replace Shia. Worst actor ever.

Keep Megan Fox. She is the reason why I watch Transformers.

      • @Anoop Desaad

        You must be joking.

    • Rob

I feel so, so bad for people that can’t turn off their brains and enjoy a fun sci-fi adventure without complaining.

Everything has to be shawshank or people will scoff at it. I would hate to be that way.

      • KK

        LOL….I completely agree! :)

      • Glenn

        Good point Rob.

      • Optimus

Yea, but a movie can still be mindless fun without being incredibly stupid, which Transformers 2 was. It doesn’t have to be great, just not garbage.

Anyway…okay new I guess. At least he’ll be good for some eye candy.

      • Wilson

I am able to do that but only for so long–it’s pushing it when the movie is brimming with cliche’s, and are almost 3 hours long. There’s only so much I can handle…

      • Tarc

Trouble is, it’s not much to ask NOT to have to turn off you brain to enjoy a fun sci-fi action/adventure. Cr_p is still cr_p! Terminator 2 was just flat out bad filmmaking on every level – even as a ‘mindless’ summer blockbuster.

    • Gina

I’ll admit that I loved the first one, but the second one was absolute garbage. I don’t have much hope for the third installment being any better than the second.

    • DIANNA

wtf transformers was great, good cast actually there HOT CAST WHY would anyone be so negative

  • Emmit West

Let’s hope that it Transformers 3 is more like #1 then #2. I left the theater after one in awe of the movie… after #2, I was just disappointed. There was too much Junior High humor… I mean really, testicles on a giant robot?

    • Marianne

Not too mention the robot humping Megan Fox’s leg.

    • Hah!

More like #1 because #2 was too immature?? Like watching a robot PEE on a bush in the first one was soooo mature… (let alone making NO sense)

      • Thalack

Actually Bumblebee pee’d on Agent Simmons. I liked #2 but I do agree the homour wasn’t great. I hated the twins.

    • Celia

I just hope it’s better than both of them. I re-watched Transformers 1 not too long ago and it’s not that great.

    • sdm

Hello people, these movies are geared toward adolescent and teenage boys. So the humor fits. My two adolescent boys loved both movies, yes, I thought some parts were a bit much but the audience they are made for loved them. Why else would they gross 1.5 billion dollars? Because they are FUN and ENTERTAINING to most boys. If you are expecting these movies to be 4 stars and two thumbs up you are livin’ in dream land.

      • ju

good point. its like criticizing spongebob for being to childish. if adults happen to like it, good for them. but dont hold it up to the same standards as a cerebral drama.

  • mario

    ugh to the f*cken max

    • McDreamydefender

      You’re just jealous.

    • McDreamydefender

You are just jealous. You are just going to see Megan Fox anyway.

    • McDreamydefender

More like, “I have a family to support and I will do what I have to make sure I do that.” Who are you to judge why an actor decides to do a movie. Would you turn down millions of dollars? Yeah, I didn’t think so.

      • McCrazy

easy kid… besides, i dont think hes doing to to support his family… doesnt he have a certain tape hes paying lawyers to try to keep from gettin everywhere?

      • Liz

What the Hell are you talking about?

  • Jon

Just one more reason to not want to see this film.

  • Marianne

I hope this one was better than the last.

  • Teddy

The problem with Transformers 2 and it looks like Transformers 3 as this mess moves forward, is that someone in their infinite wisdom has decided to focus on the people and not the giant f-ing robots the title suggests it be about.

The people should be secondary to the autobots and decepticons. It was that way in the cartoons. When the focus of the 2nd one features lengths of film where “Sam” is at college, that’s just ridiculous.

His story, any human allies story, should supplement the character developement of the transformers themselves.

I have no hope whatsoever that a third film will bring once promising franchise out of it’s nose dive.

    • Heather2

Hmmm .. see I would have to disagree. I felt like that was the problem with the second film is that they over did the robots and the action to the extreme and did not focus on the story and plot enough. I love action movies, but there needs to be a “point” to it other than Megan Fox running around with not enough clothes on.

      • hmm

i also disagree with this dude, but i think focusing on fox running is fine. the problem lies in “sam”-sure the dude can act, but hes so freaking annoying. and no fox cant act, but i dont mind watching her. also, the stories… they are all over the place! but really, that actor palying sam is just annoying

      • Dear hmm

I’m guessing you’re a guy. I happened to enjoy Shia Labeouf. A LOT.

      • Stacy

I agree that Shia Lebeouf is annoying but that is because every time I see him I remember that show even Stevens on the disney channel and I remember how annoying he was on the show

      • Lucas

yeah cause Sam the Human Prime was such an awesome and well thought out logical move. not

      • Teddy

The character developement should have been on the transformers. I’m not calling for a need for more robot fighting, but more developement on their background yes.

Again, to give screen time to Lebouf and Fox in favor of the over reaching plot of the movie about “The Fallen” was a bad move, imo.

The whole human transformer college girlfreind sequence was completely uncalled for and went nowhere as far as a tangent story.

Time was wasted both wiht needless looks into ancillary characters and over drawn action sequences.

Not to mention two transformers created that personified a racial stereotype, and which further showed how out of touch the story developers are in carrying this franchise onward.

  • Nerwen Aldarion

I didn’t hate Transformers 2, while I do agree some of the humor was too juvenile and the parents went from fun comic relief to just plain annoying.

I’ll with hold my judgement for the 3rd film until I see a trailer for it but I will say Patrick Dempsey doesn’t scream “grown up humor” this time around…

  • Celia

I don’t really care. I just hope they kill Megan Fox off within the first 15 minutes. :/

    • blah…

now THAT i’d pay ten dollars to see!!!

    • keke

      I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!
I HATED LISTENING TO HER MAKING ALL THOSE STUPID NOISES THROUGHOUT THE SECOND ONE!
BUT IT IS DEFINITELY MY FAVORITE MOVIE

  • DT

Patrick Dempsey’s agreement to star in this movie screams, “I don’t give a f@#k anymore.”

    • Giggles

Well, Grey’s Anatomy is fading in the ratings, and the oscar-calibar scripts aren’t exactly being thrown at him. Considering where he was prior to Greys, I think he knows to appreciate a paycheck when someone’s willing to offer him one.

    • Liz

DT, I so agree! Why does he do that??? He has the money, he can choose his movies! So WTH?

    • Tarc

Considering his acting competition is Megan Fox and Shi LeBoeuf, he’ll easily be the best actor in a giant summer blockbuster. Who *would* take the cash – and the publicity! That’s just a no-brainer.

  • Adam

“The plot of the movie is being kept under wraps….” Like the plot matters. Blow stuff up, Megan Fox in tight clothes, summer hit. Hello, goodbye, done.

    • mcdreamier

lets get her in a bikini this time

      • Thalack

        Lets get rid of her.

  • Maddie

McDreamy would rock a role in that movie. Bout time he was in something other than a rom com. Love T1 and T2… this one will hopefully be good. But, McDreamy will give me something super hot to look at during :P WOOH!

    • really?

      really??

  • John Smith

everyone hated the second one, i was entertained. I don’t go into a movie based on an 80s cartoon and toy series and expect an oscar winning movie

    • ani

if this is true, how do you explain those who absolutely loved the first one (i think i’ve seen it like 8 times)? i am pretty sure we didn’t expect or get an oscar winning movie. we did, however, get an amusing, entertaining movie. the second one was a piece of crap that bored the sh*t out of me. not funny, not interesting, not entertaining. and, unlike the first one, the transformation sequences were not at all awe-inspiring.

      • really?

        8 times?

      • ani

yeah..it was also on hbo all day every day for a couple months. i also love shia :/ don’t judge…even though i would totally judge.

    • blah…

noone asked for oscar winning. i only ask for something that doesn’t make me want to shoot myself for having wasted two hours of my life on it. since the first one practically made me feel suicidal, i didn’t bother with the second. want a GOOD example of cheesy action blockbuster? look at something like Independence Day.

  • thxman1138

Dempsey role is “significant to plot”. This film is already one plot better than Transformers 2! WaHaHaHa!

  • Melinda

I’m excited to see him in something other than a rom-com. And he’s clearly stated that he doesn’t really mind the roles he gets b/c he’s just trying to provide for his family…it’s not like when he was younger and was craving artistic roles. Just like everyone else…a job is a job.

  • Tony

people! give him a chance. might be a new direction for him. i remember i didn’t like wahlberg years ago, but after Invincible and Shooter, i luv his movies now. and yes, i love eye candy (Megan)
