Juliette Binoche may be the world’s most underrated actress (and the world’s most underrated beauty). She is so natural. I wish the U.S. had actresses of Juliette’s age who were willing to tackle complex roles–even if the character (she plays) is unlikable.

The sad thing is, actresses of Ms. Binoche’s age (46) here in America don’t get the chance all that often to show what they can do. Our film industry is more interested in the next nineteen year old hottie than the next great mature role.

I think it’s more a lack of such complex roles being written than finding people to play them

    Javier Bardem for the win.

Love Binoche. Love Bardem. Mr. Karker, did you see Uncle Boonme. Just wonder what your thoughts are on it. I can’t help but wonder if the win was partially motivated because of the turmoil going on currently in Thailand.

Sorry. My question is obviously directed to Mr. Karger. Sorry for the misspelling.

Way to not mention who directed the winning film…obviously I can and will Google it, but it seems like an important detail to leave out.

So it was Apichatpong Weerasethakul! Good for him. I’ve seen a couple of his movies and they’re always interesting.

Will Boonmee get a US release?

  • karin

    french festival,french actresses always :boring
gainsbourg, binoche so overrated and not so popular here in france

Im sorry but can someone please explain to me what is so damn special about Kate Beckinsale? I mean she isn’t exceptionally attractive IMO and hasn’t done a whole lot of acting worthy enough to merit much of any sort of recognition, let alone serving on the Cannes Jury!
