Spike Lee has picked his new project and it’s an action-thriller centered on an emotionally damaged FBI agent. Called Nagasaki Deadline, the film, which will be financed and co-produced by Alcon Entertainment, puts an FBI agent in a desperate race to stop a terrorist plot. The agent must decipher historic events in order to avert disaster.
The script comes from screenwriting brothers David and Peter Griffiths (Collateral Damage) — William Broyles Jr. (Castaway) just completed the most recent draft. Avatar’s Jon Landau will also produce with Kira Davis (Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) and Rae Sanchini (Titanic).
Good title, kinda makes me want to see it based on that alone.

Love it. I thought Inside Man was a real gem, and would love to see him do more thrillers. He has a great eye, and I trust him to keep bringing out the small moments that really make these kinds of movies POP. Remember the scene with Clive Owen and the kid in the bank vault? An intimate piece, spoken barely above a whisper, yet so powerful that the studio used that, and only that, as one of the trailers. I can’t wait to see what he does with this one…

I’m not a big Spike Lee fan but this does sound good and I’ll be interested in how his style will mix with the story. 25th Hour, Do the Right Thing and Inside Man were all good but I thought St. Anna, He Got Game, She Hate Me and Crooklyn were all pretty awful. So to me it could be really good or really bad.
